Media companies see used media sales making money. They know if they could get a slice of that pie, they could rake in more money. Media companies see that if they split up products artificially with DRM they can make more money. For example, the only reason movie makers are selling consumers a "Digital Copy" in addition to a Digital Video Disk is because they can stop consumers from extracting the video from the DVD.
Media companies indicate they have a right to profit from used media sales, and they make a great show out of how harmful "piracy" is. They do their best to present themselves as a victim. This is to play on people's emotions so that the companies can get away with extending their control at the expense of other industries and the consumer.
And that is DinnerX's conspiracy theory of the day.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Some years back, I bought an Accord from a Honda dealership. I paid for the car in full. Some years later, I decided I wanted to get a newer car. So I brought my Accord to a used car dealership to sell it. Honda found out what I've done and put up a big stink. They said me selling my car used is hurting their profits because some one bought a used car instead of buying a brand new car from them.
Accord = A video game
Honda = Media industry
used car dealership = Game Stop

I now know that Ludacris' Chicken N Beer is pretty much the perfect album to listen to while repairing a toilet.

If the yogpod doesn't discuss gaming I may listen to it. I find their game knowledge and skill insufferable anymore.SwooshBear wrote:I'm so happy that the YoGPoD has returned. I knew someone on here was also a Yognau(gh)t
Older. Not wiser.
