In original Freddy's defense, these things didn't really kick in until the 4th movie.

No stupid-ass puns or ironic deaths.

A gruff delivery of his lines (like Adrien Brody in "Predators" or Christian Bale in "The Dark Knight").

The fact that he's a SICK-ASS KIDDIE-DIDDLING SHITFUCKER!!!

When did he "whine"? Like his nasally voice in the flashbacks before they turned him into a Molotov?

He sounded like he was just a stogie away from a trachbox(sic?).

Maybe you're confused 'cuz he sounds a bit like Dr. Girlfriend?

And all the love I have for the old movies won't hide the fact that behind the fear and bloodshed, classic Freddy was just a strung-out joker in a bad Christmas sweater.

But in the sequel, they need to tweak Freddy's appearance. And just do away with any humor whatsoever (a few of new Freddy's lines were a little too humorous).
Did we see the same movie? The ENTIRE FREAKING MOVIE he was whining!!! They tried to make you think he might not be a child-killer and that the parents may have gone overboard with their vigilante justice. Through the whole movie, he was whining that he was innocent and trying to play the victim. That's not the remorseless, killer Freddy Krueger that scared the piss out of me as a little kid.

Saw Safe House last night. It was all right and I was entertained but there was nothing particularly memorable or lasting about it. I think it kind of wanted to be a Bourne movie, which amusingly there was a trailer for the next one of those beforehand.

Just finished watching "Paul".
Not a great movie by itself, but a great homage to all science fiction movies in general. If you are a fan of alien movies and love Easter egg type references, Paul is definitively worth watching.

That movie is still soooooo good

I've yet to play a shooter that delivers the satisfaction of the action in this movie, and that includes Stranglehold and both Max Payne games. This shoot out is classic

Despite the fifty billion shooter games on the market, I still think movies do it better

Just watched Rio and Zookeeper with my family. Don't recommend either of them. Super predictable plots and lame characters I didn't like or relate to. Boring music. Rio was colorful though. At least there was pizza! Zookeeper is some of the worst shlock I have ever seen but there are a few moments of really brilliant comedy so it wasn't a total loss.

Definitely not worth it, though.

Zookeeper is my most hated movie of 2011. Cannot stand it. Every plot development I could predict at least 5 minutes before it happened. When the lion mentioned the code that the animals couldn't break (no speaking to humans), me and my brother said "guess what's going to happen within 10 minutes." Also, I really hated the personalities and voice acting for the animals.

I saw The Big Lebowski (finally!) last night. Hilarious, and I loved the randomness and looseness of the whole thing. It's sort of like Napoleon Dynamite: the plot is silly, fragmented, and doesn't really go anywhere important, but it provides tons of laughs nonetheless. Anyway, if this is what the Coen brothers are capable of, I'll have to check out Fargo.

The Coens are the best directors to ever live. :D

While Lebowski is their comedy masterpiece, you should be prepared for the same off-kilter perspective in each of their films. For some folks, this doesn't work in other genres (Westerns, noir films, etc.) as well as it does in comedy, but if you appreciate that aspect of their work, you can very easily fall in love with their entire oeuvre. At the very least, anyone who considers themselves a connoisseur of fine film should be able to appreciate Roger Deakins' cinematography (he's worked on most of their films) and the Bros.' knack for writing dialogue.
