What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

^so awesome. I think my wife and I will do the same soon then. Though I must admit, I can't see myself buying the NOES remake. Even just as part of the collection ,I just hated that movie. Which takes a lot man. I love some of the *worst* movies but... yikes.

Yeah man, the remake did suck and it pains me to admit it because I really went into it w/ a positive attitude, despite no involvement from Wes or Robert Englund as Freddy. My wife actually bought it for me on BD as a gift since I missed it in the theaters, so that was my first viewing. She figured I would love it since I'm a huge horror fanatic and of course I ended up hating it. Sadly it was one of the very few gifts she ever bought me that I didn't like. I'm going to try to watch it again w/ my marathon but I don't see myself getting into it unfortunately.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I even enjoyed Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, which is often labeled as the black sheep of the series due to it being a quick cash-in sequel.

2 is a great example of a really terrible movie I love. That movie is just so extremely strange and I mean... Freddy shows up at the pool party. It's not even a dream. It's such a poorly written script. But I still love the movie for what it is. Yet, the remake... not good at all.

Remakes typically suck, but since that adage can cloud your perspective, do what I try to do, which is to judge the film as itself and not as a remake.

I like how they went with Craven's original concept of Freddy being a pedophile (actually found that out AFTER I saw it).

I like the jolt scares.

I liked new Freddy's darker attitude, but feel that more effort could have been spent on the look. Maybe go for more of an all-over version of TDK's Two-Face.

Wish the dream sequences had more imagination, though since we never remember how a dream begins, it could be a theory that the dream starts off right after we fall asleep (just like in the other films).

Hear they're doing a sequel. Kinda want it to be like a reimagined version of Part 3, with Nancy, now in med school, interning at Westin Hills and helping a group of teens who have Freddy nightmares. And just like in Pt3, the head doctor (hopefully played by Alice Krige) thinks it's bullshit and headshrinks them into thinking he's not real. We get a deeper understanding of the depth of Freddy's sins, and even his backstory.

I've imagined new Freddy
was born to the "town slut" and lives with his sister, born of a different father. He's very protective of his sister Maggie (who as it turns out is actually the head doctor, trying to save the kids from her brother's spirit). And it wasn't until his teens that he started acting out and getting into trouble, which escalates in scale from fistfighting to torturing small animals.

What "darker attitude"? He came off as a whiny little bitch in the remake.

No stupid-ass puns or ironic deaths.

A gruff delivery of his lines (like Adrien Brody in "Predators" or Christian Bale in "The Dark Knight").

The fact that he's a SICK-ASS KIDDIE-DIDDLING SHITFUCKER!!!
BurningDoom wrote:He came off as a whiny little bitch in the remake.
When did he "whine"? Like his nasally voice in the flashbacks before they turned him into a Molotov?

He sounded like he was just a stogie away from a trachbox(sic?).

Maybe you're confused 'cuz he sounds a bit like Dr. Girlfriend?

And all the love I have for the old movies won't hide the fact that behind the fear and bloodshed, classic Freddy was just a strung-out joker in a bad Christmas sweater.

But in the sequel, they need to tweak Freddy's appearance. And just do away with any humor whatsoever (a few of new Freddy's lines were a little too humorous).

that's what I do. And there's a lot of remakes I've appreciated because of that like Rob Zombie's Halloween, Black X-Mas, My Bloody Valentine 3D or the recent Friday the 13th. But NOES was just shit.
