With respect to Erik, RefRain while fun and visually / auditorily stimulating, is not on par w/Mushi. It definitely has it's moments but is completely different in all aspects.
I really really want this game.

I don't suppose you have a 360?mjmjr25 wrote:With respect to Erik, RefRain while fun and visually / auditorily stimulating, is not on par w/Mushi. It definitely has it's moments but is completely different in all aspects.

I don't. I've been considering though - so many of the ports are very well done / near flawless in some cases, it might make sense. That and the PCB's to get them all would be about 12K-20K, so that isn't happening.
Like others have said, I really wish these had been released on PS3 :/
I'll prob buckle down and get a 360-J soon.

Honestly, unless you really want to play Ketsui, a regular 360 should work.
I can give you an overly large list of how accurate each port is, and why some of them are BETTER than the pcbs, if you like.

I thought Erik had said most of the CAVE stuff was JP only?
If a US 360 will do it, I can source one or two PCB's, the thought of getting a dozen was daunting.
I was about to buy that consolzied PGM, but maybe i'll grab a 360 instead then..."it's thinking"...

I would say it's on par. It's not Cave, but it does not try to be. RefRain is a great experience in its own right. Very different kind of vert than Mushi Futari so I suppose it's tough to compare. Mushi certainly has better visuals, level design, and is much tougher. On the scoring system and musically I'd probably give a slight nod to RefRain.mjmjr25 wrote:With respect to Erik, RefRain while fun and visually / auditorily stimulating, is not on par w/Mushi. And for a doujin game it is certainly better than Touhou, IMO.
Back on topic. Mushi Futari rules.

There are a few JP exclusives, but they have lessened since the western releases/announcements of DFK and Akai Katana. If you want to play the DFK Black Label arrange mode you'll need a J360... But DFK Black Label standard itself is available on the Euro release of DFK as DLC. Ketsui is a great reason to get a J360. So is DOJ. DOJ is my favorite DDP game, easily. DeathSmiles IIX is downloadable on a US 360, but I prefer physical releases.mjmjr25 wrote:I thought Erik had said most of the CAVE stuff was JP only?

A good reason to get a J360 is Radirgy Noa Massive if you're into Milestone. I think it's an awesome game.
Oh, and The iDOLM@STER.

Re: MUSHIHIMESAMA FUTARI 1.5 + BLACK LABEL - High Scores
Have you tried Maniac, BL Original, BL Maniac, or God mode yet? Difficulty isnt the only thing that changes between modes, the scoring is completely changed in each mode. Original barely has a scoring system, as its suppised to have a more traditional appeal, but the orher modes have really in depth, yet oddly intuitive scoring.
I'll try yet again to get refrain working, but I highly doubt the scoring will compare for me personally. Then again, nothing would. Even Cave cant match the mix of depth and intuition that they managed to pull off in this game.
Either way, in this thread, its all about Reco and Palm kicking the shit out of Palms fat mother, so lets ass kick together!

I've only been playing Black Label original which is a pretty simple scoring system. I'd rather stick with one or two modes until I can 1CC it or at least consistently get close to the end.dunpeal2064 wrote:Have you tried Maniac, BL Original, BL Maniac, or God mode yet? Change between tap shoot and hold shoot every 3000 pretty much for BL original. Still, despite being very simple it's still very fun. And memorizing the levels to be able to point blank as much as possible and score better is always fun/frustrating. There is no doubt that the game offers more depth than RefRain when you include all the different modes. No doubt at all.
I need to really get deep into my Cave games more. I have so many but have not put enough time into any of them to be great. DOJ and Pink Sweets are definitely near the top for me. As is Futari.
