i want to try the pdp versus pad, i always wished they would have a fightpad with an analgue stick but i find it alot easier to do special moves with an analogue stick i know this is blasphemy and i should be tarred and feathered and drug thru the streets naked by a horse. my favorite controller for fighters is the original xbox giant controller, just fits my hands soooo well. thankfully with adaptors i can make this happen on my ps2...

the PS3 has some good pads to pick from... the MadCatz SF4 pad I like a lot for size. Though it is wireless my laggy friend. There's the Hori fight pad (wired) which people seem to like, but it has a + d-pad, which is not for me when it comes to fighters. Then there's the PDP fight pad, which has a NGPC style clicky d-pad. Also wired.

And of course there's the option of limitless other non-PS3 fightpads that you could stick into the PS3 via USB.

That's true. But would all the buttons map correctly?

Hey Mike, how is the D-Pad on this controller? Specifically with shmups in mind?

Super.

Not sure if you caught my post in the Garegga thread, but I actually went back to the SAT pad over my HORI RAP stick for that game, just more control on pad for that game.

The flexibility and thickness of the D-pad is almost exact same as the SAT pad, the only real difference between the two is the ASCII is slightly bigger and has a more "grippy" texture of the casing, versus the very smooth SAT pad, I actually prefer the ASCII, so yeah, it's a great pad for fighters and shmups.

Ignore the $100+ tag though, i've seen them go at auction from retrogamecity and yamatoku-classic for under $50.

Awesome! The Saturn d-pad is the best I have ever played on, I prefer it to any stick I've used (Then again, I grew up on dpads). I'll have to keep an eye out for this one, especially with what you just said. I'm only on a standard ps2 dpad right now, and trying to play Espgaluda or Ibara on it is just not right.
