i'd suggest:
zack and wiki: quest for barbaros' treasure
resident evil 4
resident evil umbrella chronicles
house of dead 2 & 3
elebits
super monkey ball: banana blitz
and i havent tried no more heroes or nights yet but i've heard mostly good things..
and most of these games are relatively cheap because the only third party game anyone seems to buy is carnival games..

No more heroes is well worth your time you really should have it in your collection.
Bully is an interesting take on the sandbox thing but it depends how much you like that genre and ports of old games

Excite Truck was Nintendo published but it was made by another company. It's kind of but not really a 3rd party game but because I loved it so much I gotta recommend it.

I just got past Letz shake, and without spoiling it for everyone all I can say is god damn you Suda51. If only more games were crafted like this.
