This is bad news for Wii owners, but I can certainly understand where Sega is coming from on this. I mean, I can't imagine that sales were that great on the Sonic 4 for the Wii, plus the limited file size of WiiWare and the fact that the WiiU will be out next year were probably also contributing factors in this decision.

I am sure if you bought Episode 1 on the Wii you would prefer to keep all the episodes on the same console, bit of a slap in the face for people with Wii's who bought Episode 1.
I do have E1 on the Wii, I was just trying to figure out (other than its a dying console) why it wasn't on the Wii.
Keep in mind, the Wii-U would have WiiWare compatibility, so even though the Wii is dying, a Wii port wouldn't be a dead end.

It made me laugh when I read it the first time way back when, and it's made me laugh again today. One of my all-time favorite posts here.

If they fix the physics, and give the game some original zones and bosses instead of just copying the ones from the Mega Drive games, I might give it a try.

I'll definitely download the demo first this time around rather than commit to some outrageous price without playing the game first. Episode 1 was not only highway robbery for such a short game at 1200msp, it was also a very shoddy sequel and not that great. I keep trying to like it, but I just can't. There just isn't enough new stuff, and like has been a dead horse beaten to a pulp already, the physics were way off. About the only thing they got right with that game was some of the music, I actually did enjoy some of it and felt it lived up to my standards.

Then Sonic Generations and the best version of Sonic CD ever came along and made me forget all about Sonic "4". They can still do it right, much to everyone's surprise, so the question is, can dimps do Episode II right? Also, I wonder if Episode II is merely a stand-alone sequel, or if it will tie in with Episode 1 at all, possibly retroactively correcting some of its flaws? Probably not, such a notion is probably way, WAY too much to hope for..

What's the possibility that Sega (or dimps as the case may be) can use the Sonic Generations engine for S4:e2?

Well, the improvements in Sonic CD weren't really Sega. They just licensed and published a fan's work. They do deserve props for Sonic Generations though

Does anybody wonder how cool it would have been if Sega had published Streets of Rage Remake? I mean they recognized a fan's work in recreating Sonic CD why not put Streets of Rage Remake out there

Episode 1 also had to have re-made music in the WW version. I actually preferred it in a few songs.

Well, I wanted to make a new topic, but this one is here so it might as well be used. Although now that I'm posting this here, I'm sure someone else won't notice and will make a new topic anyway.

They've released (a few days ago) the first gameplay trailer for Episode 2.

http://www.gamespot.com/sonic-the-hedge ... 2-6350932/

The graphics are certainly a lot nicer, and they've clearly modified Sonic himself a bit. His running animation is better, and he looks less gangly and moves more smoothly.

You can see that Sonic and Tails play off each other a lot here, and it seems the co op element will be important. There's a two player mode where each player controls one character, but if you play single player, its impossible to control either Sonic or Tails alone. You always have both, with you as Sonic and the computer using Tails. (I'm sure that bugs some of you whiner Tails haters out there, to which I say cry more. ) It was pointed out in a different article on Sonic Stadium that it shouldn't be a big deal to control Tails and have the computer control Sonic for you, but it seems they won't be doing that. Who knows for sure though.

I have the impression that you might switch between them on the fly. There's an achievement awarded for "playing as" Tails 50 times, so that seems to support the idea.

There's a lot more screenshots around on Sonic Stadium if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Personally I think it looks good. Again, I'm impressed by the graphics, and what they've shown of the level design seems to imply that they've learned something from Sonic Generations. We'll need to see more to know for sure of course. Physics wise, they did at least get rid of the stupid uncurling when rolling off of ramps (a holdover from the damn Rush games), which was one of the most irritating things about Episode 1.

I'm a little bugged that you can't play as Tails, but at the same time I'm intrigued by the co-op emphasis and the interaction between Sonic and Tails. I'm really excited.

I admit that I'm a big fan and I'll be buying the game no matter what. But on the other hand, there will be plenty of people who will not buy the game no matter what, so...

Also, maybe its just me, but the music in that trailer is awesome.

Edit: Changed the link to go directly to Gamespot. Much clearer video.
