This. No one in Europe seems to notice anything happening in the world outside the EU, cause they are preoccupied with the crisis.

The US probably is afraid of starting another war alone, specially when they have sift their focus towards Asia, and China and Russia just love selling weapons to them, and don't like any revolution that is successful.
The US has two problems right now: We are gearing up for a Presidential election so foreign affairs are on the back burner for 90% of the country. As for starting another foreign war...we just don't have the money for it. A decade running the show in Iraq and Afghanistan killed us financially.
Another problem I see is the older brother syndrome. Little country has a bully, asks high school aged country for help. Big country says no, I have my own problems. Little country keeps asking for help, and being the bigger country, they feel obligated to help.

What I'm getting at is that if a dictator, small war, or revolution begins, everyone runs for help before trying to deal with it themselves, and complain when noone comes to help them even though they themselves never helped in any other case.

Odd wording, but I was trying to make a point.

They do not have the infrastructure. Also, it would be necessary to go to the UN to request permission to invade. Syria is a sovereign country, after all. If China and Russia are going to block non-binding resolutions that, in effect, only say that Assad is a jerk and needs to go away, do you really think the Bear and Dragon are going to allow war?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I think he was being sarcastic.

I guess so! I was having a very serious conversation along these lines (other developed countries stepping in while the US and UK are too distracted / impoverished to garner influence) so it seemed totally plausible to me! lol

Yeah sorry I should have used the blue letters.

Hopefully once Assad gets overturned (after killing who knows how many people), the people of Syria will punish Russia and China. (as in stop giving them good weapons contracts)

i dunno if you guys know about this, but, Syria is a massacre
its worse than you can imagine. What is going on for months now is on the level of Abu Ghuraib in Iraq.

This is by far the worst revolt going on, Egypt and Libya was nothing compared to this
