I also want the profiles back. I really want some questions answered.
Why is Algol here? What's the deal with Z.W.E.I. and Viola's powers? Why does A Patroklos use Setsuka's style? Who is the new Nightmare? Does anyone else ever learn that SC is actually evil? How did Seigfreid lose it? Why is Tira so hot? What is Patroklos's favorite ice cream?
These are all important things to know, but Namco is too lazy to put in character profiles.

There are character profiles. Not sure where to get them in-game, but they are in the strategy guide and should be available online.3DSStrider wrote:I also want the profiles back. I really want some questions answered.

Nightmare is Graf Dumas, a member of the Holy Roman Empire.
Siegfried lost the Soul Calibur because the Soul Calibur took the form of a one-handed sword. It's implied that Siegfried no longer had the will to use the sword.
Tira is still hot because she was exposed to Soul Edge for so long, which apparently gave her the ability to stave off aging for a bit. She also thinks Dumas is a coward, and is activily trying to get rid of him and have Pyrrha become the new Nightmare.
Patroklos hates ice cream. He prefers hot food to match his hot blooded nature.

Re: Soul Calibur V
Is the strategy guide hardcover like all the others in the series? Any chance another CD was included with it?
If there are character specific profiles that explain what everyone is doing in SCV, I'm all for getting the book, then!

Aris did a video review of the guide. It's pretty freakin' awesome, although no CD unfortunately. Guess they decided to keep that with the Collector's Edition.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:Is the strategy guide hardcover like all the others in the series? Any chance another CD was included with it?

But yeah, there's character profiles for all the characters which explains their story.

Re: Soul Calibur V
I will say that I am quiet disappointed with this release, the story mode was on the short side, it does feel like there was a little effort put into the game, it just feels like the 4th game with a fresh code of paint, but in my honest opinion, I have allot more fun with the Create-A-Soul feature than anything else, thats the only reason why I still play it.

I'm pretty sure (unless sales are very generous which I doubt but who knows) this will be the end for the soul series...
Re: Soul Calibur V
They put a lot of effort into the game - it just wasn't in the single-player component. It all went into making the competitive game as solid as it possibly could be.
A LOT of top level players left due to Soul Calibur III, and IV was just more of the same. Those previous games completely destroyed the community. The same thing would have happened with Tekken thanks to Tekken 4, but luckily Tekken Tag stayed popular enough to keep that franchise alive.
Soul Calibur has been dead since II, and this is the first time those who have abandoned it have actually started coming back to it. SCV have definitely had a lot of effort put into it - it just isn't readily apparent. It's not something that you'll see on the surface, like SC3 and 4 were - it's the engine underneath that has been revamped. The part of the game that desperately needed attention.

Better for the series to die with a bang than to keep going like it was going.CD AGES wrote:I'm pretty sure (unless sales are very generous which I doubt but who knows) this will be the end for the soul series...
Re: Soul Calibur V
Perhaps. It seems alot was riding for this game.
Re: Soul Calibur V
People didn't come to really appreciate games like SF3:TS and MvC2 until years after their release. With the amount of depth in this game, I could see the same sort of thing happening here.CD AGES wrote:Perhaps. It seems alot was riding for this game.
Re: Soul Calibur V
Lol! True about 3S but IDK if the same can be said for MvC2! Game had its crowd from the get go and never really lost its steam (at least from my experince in Cali).
I honestly lost interest in the Soul seires after 2. Series felt like it kept goin down hill from there.
