Oh yeah...the original mono audio out rca jack still works

You have to use the PPU from a PlayChoice-10 PCB and then construct an amplifier circuit around it.elabit wrote:How are you geting RGB out? Did you have to sacrifice a playchoice 10 for the circuitry?
Nothing was sacrificed the rgb ppu chip was socketed on the playchoice you can pry it out with just a small screwdriver. There was no damage done to these playchoice boards (although a lot of the boards I bought were damaged anyway so I got them for decent prices). You can always stick the rgb chip back into the playchoice.elabit wrote:How are you geting RGB out? Did you have to sacrifice a playchoice 10 for the circuitry?
That's the old technique which I outdated a long time ago. Simply building a rgb amp and using that rgb actually decreases the quality of the signal depending on how long the rgb wires are. You need to feed the rgb into a video encoder at the shortest distance possible to maintain a clear picture. Even adding 1/2 a foot distance between the ppu and a video encoder makes the picture more blurry. Adding about 6 feet of cord and the picture becomes so blurry it doesn't look much better than composite video (and this's when you're using a rgb amp). Even if you wire a video encoder at close range the signals are very sensitive and cause all kinds of strange issues like being able to see the background refreshing in some games (highly annoying). The ONLY solution I found was ordering these kits:ApolloBoy wrote:You have to use the PPU from a PlayChoice-10 PCB and then construct an amplifier circuit around it.

Since I get asked this almost daily I made a price guide:CFFJR wrote:For future reference, can I ask what you would charge for something like this?
It'd be nice to get rgb out of my nes one day...
