Re: Can you beat all of the games you own within your lifeti
I've got a current collection of about 1200 and I'm hammering out a ton of wins lately. Hoping to catch up on my NES games in particular. I think I've got more free time than your typical adult (40-50 hours of gaming on a good week, 20-30 on a slow one) so time isnt a big factor. I'm pretty confident I can catch up as long as I slow my purcahses down a bit, which tends to happen as someone else mentioned when you become more satisfied with where your collection is at.

I am playing/have played every game I've got and I have beaten about 4/5 of them. I don't own very many games because I'm not a collector.

Slim chance. I think my priorities would be out of whack if I was able to beat more than 50 games a year. I already aknowledge my collecting has reached ridonkulous heights.

I own ~100 games that I have yet to complete. My collection is unlikely to grow in any significant way. I think carefully before adding a game to my collection. The price of the game is no factor, only the quality of the game and if it is worth the time to play.
So, my answer is "yes".

I'd probably add Evo to my wishlist if I could find it with the manual. At this point, I don't bother buying cart-only unless the manuals are easily found.

I own hundreds of games but have beaten only a handful. I own some games for nostalgia. I own others because I love a theme (pinball, SSX snowboardning, fighters look pretty, karaoke, etc.) I own some because a concept sounded too good to pass up (Suda51 I'm looking at you.) I own others because I read a Racketboy review that was too good to pass up when I found the game used for a steal.
I would never be able to beat my current collection, but I don't mind. I like the experience of a new game. Sometimes the new game clicks with me, and the end is just easier to reach. I like the journey.

Re: Can you beat all of the games you own within your lifeti
Yes, most definitely. Of the few hundred games I own, I've beaten about 90% of them.
I don't buy games just for the collection's sake. If I don't want to play it, I don't buy it, even if it would complete a section of my collection.
That said, I have bought games that I found I just plain don't like and have no intention of finishing. That doesn't happen very often, but I need to pass them on.

Only if I don't count as "owned" the immense number of free to play games (such as those that JT keeps posting about).
I do consider this seriously and wonder if I should just be that much more selective in choosing what games to play. I haven't decided yet what is the best way to go about it. I like the way you think, JT, nice thread here.
Ivo.
