Genesis buzz
I was looking for some technical info on Genesis repair. The console I picked up shows some carts fine but the sound is very low with a loud buzzing noise at all times. It also seems to read some carts fine and hands after the title screen on others (which may be the carts themselves). Thanks!

Re: Genesis buzz
this is almost definitely a problem with the AC adapter. try another one on it and be sure its of the correct voltage and amps. when i have this happen its usually a bad or wrong power adapterfitterhans wrote:I was looking for some technical info on Genesis repair. alot of time it really depends where the rf adapter is placed and where the genesis is located. try to move it off the floor onto a table and make sure that the rf adapter is not in contact with any form of metal. otherwise you will pick up ambient noise.

Re: Genesis buzz
I've noticed the ac adapter itself making a high pitched noise before too, but it didn't make a noise through my speakers. And if the RF works with the SNES it should be fine, but try moving it around like fox099 suggested.SnowKitty wrote:this is almost definitely a problem with the AC adapter. try another one on it and be sure its of the correct voltage and amps. when i have this happen its usually a bad or wrong power adapterfitterhans wrote:I was looking for some technical info on Genesis repair. in addition to my prior comments, ill build on ott0bot's comments a bit. if the adapter is making a high pitch noise, try a different power socket. If you are using a power strip you may be getting alot of noise on your circuit. you can solve this by using a power conditioner/battery backup. in addition to giving you a steady electrical output, it also improves performance of your television! i have my hdtv hooked up through a conditioner and i noticed considerable improvement

He speaks the truth. What fox099 is saying is 100% dead-on in my experience with speakers, or any electrical equipment that experienced sound buzz. While a conditioner (I forget the technical term for it) is great, sometimes just a good quality power strip will make a big difference so try that first since they're cheaper.fox099 wrote:in addition to my prior comments, ill build on ott0bot's comments a bit. if the adapter is making a high pitch noise, try a different power socket. Oh and if you can, only use one of the two outlets on the wall jack. I've found (at least in my crappy old apartment) that if I used a good quality power strip and only used one of the two outlets, there was less buzz as well.
