Official Sega Dreamcast colors
Official Sega Dreamcast colors
I just wanted to know what colors the Sega came in during it's lifetime. I know obviosuly there was white but I believe I saw a black one somewhere.

There was the original grey, Black for the Sega Sports version (had sega sports logo on the lid), green for a very limited edition Seaman console, clear red and black for super limited japanese Resident Evil release, clear blue and black for the same game as the clear red and black (and just as limited), pink for some japanese game I don't care about (very limited, but not as rare as the RE versions), and the rarest of them all, yellow, red, and blue on one system, a Sonic adventure system signed by the members of Sonic Team. There are 20 of those in existance, I believe.

R7, 2 Hello Kitty versions, Sega Sports, a Sonic aniversary, SakuraTaisen, etc. Soo damn many...
yeah.... i would have to agree with you.
I know the theme of sega and the retro community is something like 'sega releases a console- it fails and then becomes a cult hit.' Not knocking it- i'm right there with you guys.
but yeah... we've got back around to that conversation again.

I'm not coming down on you or anything, but does anybody really think this? Pretty much any dead console has a "cult" following (yuck), no matter how popular it was at the time. Post-mortem love for Sega's consoles may be more visible than love for Atari's last attempt at a console (although I like my Jaguar) simply because of the number of dedicated users...and not because the console "failed" (whatever that means).nickfil wrote: I know the theme of sega and the retro community is something like 'sega releases a console- it fails and then becomes a cult hit.' Is the "retro" community (again, yuck) really putting more devotion to Sega's consoles since Sega's demise? Well then, those people should be ashamed of themselves. It's like when some mediocre actor or musician dies and all of a sudden his or her work is treated like pure gold. What a load of crap.
I like to believe people who still play Sega's consoles play them because they have so many great games to offer...and it doesn't matter whether the console did poorly business-wise or any other reason.

To answer the topic question, there are at least 23, including all official and limited releases, but not counting any special one-off custom jobs, and also not including all the different packaging and different boxes.
Edit: Okay, I thought I would stop being lazy and actually list them, or some might think I'm just pulling numbers out of my butt.
Dreamcasts:
Code Veronica Claire
Code Veronica STARS
Crystal Seaman (clear)
Divers 2000 (it's a console+TV contraption, crazy)
European Standard
Gold (last production model)
Hello Kitty Blue
Hello Kittly Pink
Japanese Standard
Sega Direct Black
Sega Direct Pearl Pink
Sega Direct Pearl Blue
Sega Direct Silver (my favourite)
Mazora (or Maziora; very expensive due to the paint job)
Partner Dreamcast (specially-made for certain people, but still counts I suppose)
Regulation 7
Sakura Wars
Sonic
Sonic (Employee issue, signed)
Swatch
Tsutaya
US Black Sports
US Standard
Xmas Seaman
So, 24 here, but you may consider the Partner and Swatch DCs as custom DCs...I don't know if they were actually available for sale.

Not to mince opinions but, comparing the Jag and the DC? Cult or no cult, that's like comparing shit and not-shit.Doctor Fugue wrote:I'm not coming down on you or anything, but does anybody really think this?
