Free Albums!!! [Indie Rock: From the heart!]

Post by Valkyrie-Favor »

Hey guys! I thought I'd resurrect a tradition I used to have on another forum. Everyone loves music, and everyone loves free stuff! Basically, someone from the forum is responsible for finding a free album online and posting it here. Any style or genre is fine as long as you think it's good. There's a lot of really good, truly free albums out there.

By "free," I don't mean pirated. I mean that either the artist or the publisher is voluntarily giving their music away! It should also be DRM-free.

Good websites for free albums:
-Bandcamp
-Noisetrade
-PureVolume
-Jamendo
-IndieVision
-Official band sites
-Many more

I'll kick us off this week:

This may be common knowledge, but Nine Inch Nails has been giving away The Slip for a long time now.

Trent Reznor also did a project with his wife called "How to Destroy Angels" that is also free.

The juke samples are middling at best, but I haven't been this excited about a production artist since Flying Lotus hit the scene.

Haha doesn't look like we are sticking to "of the week". I just started a new blog with one of the articles being the recurring Free Music Friday, so I'll be keeping a close eye here and share those friday posts.

I'll also just plug this here http://kevinwillingham.com where my free albums are.

Well, I don't really have anything to contribute as far as a discussion on power metal/synth goes...

Well, it was never made into an album, but Anamanaguchi released a bunch of awesome singles over the summer of 2010. Quality stuff if you like rock and chiptunes. If you're not already a fan, this will make you one

All right, time for this week's fix! It's Euphoreon by Euphoreon! "Epic metal" fusion of power, black, death and viking metal. Super catchy! Next week I'll bring some indie rock.

Download for free from their official site: http://www.euphoreon.com/

Enjoy

well this thread has mostly been about rock and metal.

so heres another site with free music.

Its pretty much trance/techno/chill/ambience. So if you're a fan or just curious you can listen to it before you download it.

but hey, Its free and all you need is a blank cd or mp3file for it.

My friends in "A Call To Arms" completed an album, then promptly broke up. However they uploaded it for free online. Great new old school thrash metal. Give 'em a listen. http://getmetal.org/thrash-metal/14641- ... -2011.html
