I agree with this, it was great that most of the time you could just put her in some container and then get on with your business. That did lead to some amusing situations though, like when you're leaving an area and then realize that you've left Ashley in the garbage somewhere.

I didn't mind her that much myself actually, but I can sort of see why she annoyed some people. I do think RE 4 is on my short list of games that did escort mission well. She even had the courtesy to duck when you aim at her and she ALWAYS stayed close to you
