Your parents too? My mom will also ask "Are you on a boss?" after all the time she'd call me up while I was raiding in WoW.alienjesus wrote:My mum/step-dad always ask ' what level are you on?' or 'are you winning?' even when I'm playing a game like Animal Crossing. I give them the benefit of a doubt though, because they don't like video games much, but at least now and again they try to feign an interest.

My mom doesn't play videogames, but she knows I like them. She likes dogs though, so she sent me a birthday card that said "Wii-ner Dogs" and it had a picture of two weiner dogs playing a wii.

Stuff that annoys me about Non-Gamers:
- People who pronounce Mario "Mary-O".
- People who call the Genesis/Mega Drive "The Sega". (one guy in a store actually said the following; "I had a Sega, but I could never beat it.")
- People who, after being explained the premise of a puzzle game, blurt out "Oh, so it's like Tetris!".
- Remnant followers of the cult of Jack Thompson still thinking that all games are evil.

Re: Non-Gamers Say The Darndest Things
When I play any multiplayer FPS (usually CoD) sometimes my father watches and asks "how did you die?" When I clearly get knifed in the back or shot down. Another thing he does that actaully annoys me is when I was playing Portal 2 and he was trying to tell me how to solve certain puzzles. He played games back when Doom/Quake was the CoD of today, and he has over 150 Ps1 and Ps2 games but he never plays them. Sometimes I'd wish he would get back into gaming, So I'm not the only gamer in my family. Also, One thing I really hate is when people see a Shmup and say "Hey that looks like Space Invaders!"

"Excuse me, do you sell Yoshi's cookies here? My son want Yoshi's cookies for his birthday."
- My mother, speaking to a grocery store clerk in 1993
"My son like retro video games, like Duck Hunt... and Diablo."
- Me father, to a friend last summer

"Remember those baseball handhelds?"
Actually, they don't say "handhelds", but I can't think of the words they use to describe it.

doesn't matter if it's a cartridge, a disc, a console or a handheld. My dad refers to every video game system or game as a "nintendo."
