I know it's not THE BEST deal out there, but I've been auction hunting one down for over 2 months now. The only ones I have seen 'move' were an auction and a BIT that went for $167 each and another auction that went up to $175.
Now I have to receive it to see if it was 30 dollars cheaper for a reason. More on that later.
That's nuts but congrats on getting a rare game! I'm frustrated too at finding it in the wild, so tempted to give up and go the EBay route myself. If it wasn't so freeken expensive. Can you post a full review with pics?

But I did pick up a "hip gear" controller with screen for $3. I thought it was a crappy clone at first then the ps2 controller plug peaked my interest. I was going to pass it up as the screen on it is tiny. But then I thought you know CRTgamer would have bought this just to show. I better buy it just so he knows about it.
Wow this still needs an ac adapter to play. Not helping the portability of this thing Had a 9v adapter around so it does work. But not exactly the best portable game option. One of those screens that goes on the system is a much better option.
Great Price! I knew about it, never pursued it. I figure it would make the controller too unwieldy. To make you feel better the portable screens on top of the console are not much better compared to a regular TV hookup. It would be interesting if set up the controller screen as a second source for PS1 two console link games. Gives privacy for the other player to do a sneak attack, Assault Rigs come to mind. Another aspect, mod the screen for the ghost player in Gamecube Pacman Vs.

I don't want to brag, but I have found Shantae in the wild twice. I found it at two separate flea markets and paid less than $10 each time. The first copy I found had some serious label damage, but - after I found my second copy - I was able to sell it on eBay for a little over $90. (It wasn't worth quite so much back then...) I have the pristine copy in my collection.
In any event, I think that it is one of those games that - while rare and of tremendous value to collectors - is not easily recognized by people who have not done their research (i.e., it does not have the word "Mario" in the title...) Accordingly, I think that this is one that you can locate eventually if you keep hunting. Good luck!
jeez two for under $10? That's awesome. Though I think you're right. If it happened to be in someone's collection and lands in a yard sale or something, it certainly would appear to a clueless parent to be a cheap-o kids game.

Yeah. In each case, it was mixed in with all of the seller's random Gameboy games (not including the "Mario" titles...those are inevitably behind the counter).
I picked up GBA Doom II from one of those sellers weekend before last for $8; so, despite having a booth largely dedicated to selling old videogames, I don't think he spends much time researching prices (which is just fine by me! ).

in a lot of cases I think GB games are just considered worthless, unless like you noted, they say Mario (or Castlevania, Metroid, Donkey-Kong, Zelda, Mega Man, etc).

Agree, I have found so many things at Swap Meets and Thrift stores that would cost so much more online. I have been keeping an eye out for Shantae for quite a while, one day I might get lucky. I recently picked up a Miracle of a deal, getting pics together.

yeah I remember reading about this thing is PSM way back, but never saw one in real life. That's awesome. (How much was the PS2 with Network Adapter?)
The ps2 with network adapter was $15. I have a slim and know I won't actually mod a phat.

But the size to portability ratio is better on say the psone screen. This ps2 pad screen is just as cumbersome(it needs it's one power source) but not as big. Plus I can't play time crisis on it. I already have enough gba's to play pacman vs (and the gba screen is bigger )
