Wow, looks like I'm going PS2 hunting next week! A couple stores near me have them in stock; I'm assuming there's no way to check by calling ahead...

Does anyone know how long this B1G2 deal is going on? If I find a couple of them, I'll sell one here for price+shipping and get some free games out of it

Apparently it's a "Buy Two Get One" on any used merchandise. You can't get a console for free, though.

The GS near me has gutted 90% of the PS2 games. Last time I went, two of the store clerks were giggling and "playing frisbee" with the PS2 cases before they threw them out.

Motherfuckers.

I have no idea what the only Gamestop near me has in terms of PS2 games, but it's worth a shot. If nothing else I'll just get Dark Souls.

This may have been mentioned somewhere in this thread but just in case it hasn't:
http://www.poweruprewards.com/PUR/Index/RetroGameVault

It's kind of cool that they're doing that for the retro collectors. Looks like you need an insane amount of points to collect anything on there though! I only have a little over 8,000 but I have most of what's on there anyways. Just thought I'd share with those who are rewards memebers that didn't know about it and are interested.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Nowhere in my post did I imply that.

$39.99 is what they are charging. I'm going to poke around this weekend also. I've been wanting to add a silver slim (already snagged a new in box silver controller for $7 over the summer).

I went to a Gamestop earlier in the week. It was next to a supermarket that I like but I have not been inside the store yet.

The clerk was very friendly and helpful and extremely enthusiastic. We chatted about Skylanders since I was curious what they had which was nothing but starter packs. I did some browsing and noticed the PS Vita on display. Very impressive device, especially the screen. I ended up buying a leather DSi XL case for $3.

I remember them going for $20 or so.

At the counter, the clerk asked if I had a PowerUpRewards card. I said no, I would like the free version. He told me about the paid version and said that it was usually a one-time fee. That is, when the card is about to expire, they can just extend it for you without charge (in most cases). Is this true?

Anyway, I got the paid version with the GameInformer subscription. He also gave me 4 copies of the magazine. I started reading the first one last night and I'm impressed with the writing. There's a lot of interviews with the producers/developers. The magazine reminds me a bit of the Edge magazine.

I know there are people who think it's a crappy magazine but why? It seems decent to me.

I'll have to fill out the District Manager survey this weekend to give kudos to the clerk who helped me. I'll see if I can find it in this thread somewhere.
