I don't really care. I have a Sony Stereo receiver and I think it's great. Can't say anything about the Sony Rice Cooker. Haven't tried it yet. Sony has a reputation of making reliable electronics so naturally, they are suggested among consumers as the brand to follow. However, in terms of video games, I feel that dedicated games companies were much better for the industry before the big corporations like Sony and Microsoft got involved. Now it's harder for any other sole company to compete. Nintendo has been an established name but honestly, they aren't taken as seriously by the more hardcore gamer like with the PS3 and 360. Nintendo caught a break with casual gamers (in addition to the PS3's price tag, you would think sales would have been higher for the PS3 due to the PS2's success but the price was a deterrent) but we won't how long they can keep it up. We'll have to see how the Wii U can do. The game industry isn't the sole area Sony and Microsoft sell products in unlike Nintendo.ryanofcali wrote:What about people who think Sony is the be all end all of electronics.

Obviously I wasn't speaking as myself as someone who is a Sony fanboy, I just find it hilarious when people claim Sony is the best etc. usually in terms of their non PlayStation offerings.

What I hate is when thrift stores around me charge extra for Sony TVs, even if they are 20 years old. It's not unlike the Mario premium that many video game dealers charge.ryanofcali wrote:Obviously I wasn't speaking as myself as someone who is a Sony fanboy, I just find it hilarious when people claim Sony is the best etc. usually in terms of their non PlayStation offerings.

They're as bad as online sources. I bought the occasional Retro Gamer import at Border's for a while, but then they closed downRazzmatazz wrote: I buy magazines instead still for my reviews as the quality of writing is better, but use IGN for news or tips. I don't know what the US is like magazine wise but the UK is fortunate to have professional material like Edge and Games TM, as well as Retro Gamer and my favourite NGamer (now Nintendo Gamer) that know the history of games and include regular retro features.

Nothing wrong with being a Sony gamer. I've got all the PlayStation systems and they're all pretty awesome. I play PS1 the most, but PS2 is a really incredible console and PS3 has some good stuff too, though you have to dig through a lot of crap to find it. PSP rocks hard too. I think being a PS3/Madden-only gamer is a bigger problem then just being a Sony-only gamer. I do have a lot of Nintendo stuff, too.

If you have 126$ to spare you could also get a 13 issue subscription from their online store......man has the $ fallen.GameMasterGuy wrote: They're as bad as online sources. I bought the occasional Retro Gamer import at Border's for a while, but then they closed down

Yeah, there's no way I'd pay that much. They usually lasted a couple months anyways, I only read bits and pieces here and there. No need to be getting one *every* month.

Sony TVs, especially ones that are 20 years old, would be vastly superior to almost any TV that you would find at a thrift store. You'd have to be comparing it to a brand like Mitsubishi to complain.BoringSupreez wrote:What I hate is when thrift stores around me charge extra for Sony TVs, even if they are 20 years old.
