Maybe because so few people here own a NGPC :( The best part is the addition of the puzzle pieces hidden in the levels adding to the fun. I haven't played many other 2D sonic games though, mostly because I just got a Genesis saturday  I have Sonic & Knuckles Collection for the computer which I loved playing when I was a kid.
I mentioned it (and have it) but I haven't played it much yet. I have few NGPC games so I tend to save them up too much.

Isn't Sonic Pocket Adventure largely a remake of Sonic 2?
Anyways, I'd get to death egg maybe dieing 3 times. Then I'd waste 5 to 10 lives just trying to hit that stupid bastard robuttnik in the freakin' crotch 12 times! UGH! He wasn't hard, you'd just get hurt because the stupid prick would had this hit area that was so low it was hard to jump into with out jumping into his spike hands, but his spike hands were so high that you couldn't jump over them. Tie in my impatience for dodgin his goofy ass and hitting him when he bowed over... but come on, at 9 years old you hardly have the patience for a pop tart to cook!
You can actually jump over his hands at a certain point in his walk cycle, if you hit at the top of your jump. You can also hit him very easily when he ducks to fire his arms at you--that's the only way I was able to beat him with Knuckles, who seems to jump a little lower than Sonic.

1. Sonic 2. Without a doubt I play this game ALL the time. When I first got it I skipped school to play it and still play it whenever I grow tired of other games. Solid game. Though I despise Tails with a passion.
2. Sonic 3. Great game that lacks that certain something that Sonic 2 had, not sure what it is though. Also, the introduction of Knuckles, my favorite Sonic character, was cool and I prefer the bonus stages in it than the previous games.
3. Sonic & Knuckles. The Sonic & Knuckles game itself wasn't all that great imo, but the ability to play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 and 3 was awesome. The lock on feature was the seller and who didn't enjoy playing as Knuckles.
4. Sonic CD. I never actually owned this game. I've only played it when I was younger at my cousin's. Really fun game and I really need to buy a Sega Cd and get this game because it is a great game.
5. Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Genesis). Fun game that set the groundwork for the series.

1. Sonic the Hedgehog - First game I ever played (on a 6-pak no less!) Sometime during my childhood my brother let somebody borrow our Genesis. That person happened to spill water on it, ruining it. (My brother suggested that we should pour some water on his brand new N64) So for years the game has been an old memory.
2. Sonic CD - Awesome music and that race with Metal Sonic was epic
3. Sonic 2 - Great music not as good as CD but still good
4. Sonic 3 - Racing against your friends was pretty awesome
5. Sonic Chaos - best portable Sonic game

Honorable Mention - Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - Fun puzzle game

Yeah that's what I was talking about when I said "bowing"... he lowered down a little to do those things allowing you to jump up and hit his face. But alas, I was to impatient as a kid.

I mean right at the start, when he's just walking towards you--you can hit him then. You can get a good three hits in before he even takes off.

...Is it bad that I remember his whole pattern even after I haven't played the game in years? Hell, I still remember the level select, debug mode, Super Sonic and 'night mode' codes. Hah.

I don't think you can hit him when he's walking because his arms are swinging.
You have to wait until after he's stopped.

There's a REEAAALLLY small window in which to do it. If you catch him at the right point in the walk cycle--right after he sets his foot down--and you catch him right at the height of your jump, you can hit him. Not REALLY worth it, seeing as if you screw up you're back to square one, but I had Sonic 2 down to a science when I was 13.
