Fallout 3 Question

Post by MrEco »

I'm wondering if anyone well versed in Fallout 3 could give me some advice.

About what level should my character be before I start the Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta dlc's? I don't want it hard enough that I'm constantly hard saving, wasting stimpacks, and dying. But I want it to be a good challenge so the fights are fun and the rewards are still decent.

Also (Assuming they have similar level requirements) which one should I do first?

FYI, my character is specializing in energy weapons (Already at 100), explosives (Already at 100), repair (Already at 100), medicine (At 85), and melee for the hell of it (At 80 I believe). My level is 15.

15 is probably good for any DLC. I did Operation Anchorage when I was level 5 or something and gained about 3 levels doing it. Mothership Zeta I hear is just pure fighting so you'll probably get a few levels out of that one for sure.

Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta are both fairly combat heavy. I was in the 20's level wise when I did them. Around 23 or 24 during Point Lookout, and around 27 when I started Mothership Zeta because I did all the DLC as they came out. Even at a high level, its still pretty challenging because the enemies take a lot of damage. At least when I played through them, the enemies seemed to absorb a lot of bullets before dying. I did everything else before any of the DLC, and like I said, I did them as they came out, so I was in the mid 20's level wise and did fine with enough challenge but not too much trouble.

I haven't played Mothership Zeta yet but I did Point Lookout at around Level 20 and it was still rather challenging. Most of the enemies can take a lot of damage before they go down.

it really just depends on how you play the game. if you're high in Big Guns, Small Guns, Energy Weapons, Unarmed, etc, then you can be level 10 and be fine. if you've built up your Speech, Science, Lockpick, etc, then you should probably wait until you can build up your combat skills before trying a new area.

a better question would be "what level were you and what was your character like when you started the DLC?"

i was level 20, and i was an extremely evil character with really high Big Guns, Energy Weapons, Science and Lockpick, but every other skill hovered around mid-range (40s or so). i think i did The Pitt first. it's been a while. i should really start playing this game again.
