It's a great series, enjoy it! R2 and R3 each improve on the first in many ways.
And it might seem difficult because health does not regenerate, which is a big reason why it is one of the best FPS series this generation (R1 and R3 use health packs, only R2 regenerates). Regenerating health is such a horrible mechanic

Actually I think Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has a system like that. You get shot in the leg and no more sprinting for the rest of the mission. I don't know about the second game though. Didn't see any vids on that. I also didn't play the first one so I went off of video reviews and stuff.
ARMA and OFP are simulations. I have played all entries in both franchises, but they don't come close to the real thing.
I'm playing the Darkness II demo, available on steam!
I just started playing Bulletstorm. It's better than I expected it to be. I also restarted Bioshock recently. I never finished it before, but felt kind of lost on the story and decided to start fresh. I'm also playing a bit of XIII, but I haven't touched that one for a couple weeks.
I thought The Darkness was pretty decent, so I'm hoping the second one is just as good at least. I'll definitely check it out.
Kind of weird Syndicate comes out next month I think. It's being handled by the guys who did The Darkness and the Riddick games, so I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out. I loved the Riddick games.
Finally digging into Thief! It's up on GoG now (and I hear 2 is coming soon as well). Tried getting this to play in the past but it never worked, now it runs like a charm.
Amazing music and everything. I love the Quake 1/2 / Jedi Knight pixelated look, haha. Kind of fits the dark vibe and everything pretty well. It's no joke though, this game has some crazy level design like I've always heard.
I am most of the way through the Halo Anniversary campaign, and this is a really well done HD remake. In the past I've said I like Halo 2's single player campaign as the best in the series, but the truth is I've played through Halo 1's campaign more times than any other game in the series.

Thief ain't no FPS. Might as well put Skyrim on here.
I've been slowly making my way through Metro 2033... I'm talking "I'll play it once every 3 months" slow.

Metro 2033 is in my top 5 single player FPS this gen, which considering the deluge of titles (the large majority of which I've played), is really saying something.

It's good, but the enemy AI fucks with my "every game is a stealth game" mentality. Realistically, it makes sense that they never reset, but it's annoying as hell that once you alert them they always know exactly where you are. I prefer STALKER really.

I'm still on my way through Metro 2033 as well. I rarely play it but I'm almost done with it. I like the atmosphere, but the shooting feels like a chore in the game. It takes forever to take any enemy down and I feel like the cross-hair might as well not even be there. I'd like to go back and finish STALKER as well. I have the first expansion too.
