REmake vs Resident Evil Zero - which one should I play first
REmake vs Resident Evil Zero - which one should I play first
So the only Resident Evil games I've ever played at length were 4 and 5 (I've played a bit of REmake but the tank controls turned me off, and I played a bit of Deadly Silence but the everything turned me off) but I just got a Gamecube so I'm looking to give these another shot. I know that Zero is a prequel, but which one should I look at playing first?

the REmake is the definitive version. I still have a soft-spot for the original due to nostalgia. But the GCN version is probably the way to go otherwise.

I think you misread my question!

you are correct sir. Yes.sabrage wrote:I think you misread my question!
I think REmake is a way better game than Zero. I'm not against Zero. It's genuinely creepy. And the swapping characters thing is cool. But as a game, I still prefer REmake.

This is a very good question i would say start with zero and then go from there
Re: REmake vs Resident Evil Zero - which one should I play f
REmake is hard to top, but yeah I still think Zero is a great game. I actually still haven't finished it, from what I played though I'd say I like it more than CV.
Really, flip a coin. Win/win situation for the most part!

Well, I already have REmake, so I'll just go with that.

If you don't like tank controls you won't like either game. That being said, you owe it to yourself to play REmake through to the end at the very least. It explains what happened before the mansion in memos and research documents, but knowing the plot of RE Zero isn't very important to fully enjoy REmake.
If you do enjoy REmake enough to see it through to the very end, you might want to consider Zero as a runner up choice. I don't mean to be picking on Zero as it's a great game with a great visual look to it, but nevertheless it is the weaker of the two games and should come as a distant second to REmake.

I only played it up until the first zombie encounter and decided I didn't have the patience to play through the game at that time. I'm willing to give it another shot.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:If you don't like tank controls you won't like either game. Some advice - first time playing, go with Jill. Her scenario is much easier than Chris's, she can carry two additional items, has a lockpick which allows her easy access across the mansion, and Barry helps you out a lot.
When you encounter the first zombie, just run away back to the dining room where Barry is examining the blood pool by the fire. He'll take out the zombie for you.
Ink ribbons are in short supply. Always ration them. It's best to only save your game at key points, or after you've cleared a good number of rooms and make some good progress.
REmake is a much slower, scarier game than RE4. There are some points that come as close to being legitimately scary as any game can do. Only Silent Hill 3 and Fatal Frame top it for me personally. REmake is damn scary though. Let me just say the name Lisa. Once you play the game, you'll understand why.
