Bought blue gender econo set. It's whatever. Not bad, pretty average.

but theres some groping and nookie action, as well as heavy blood.
checked online and this has been edited for tv and scenes removed. But they didnt do that for the dvd
It looks like funimation didn't really check their stuff. They gave it a TV-PG rating.
And its anything but.
I would shudder to think that a parent would buy this for their kid with a PG rating and get a big surprize.
With the ensuing lawsuit and or denying of a media to a child. They could get in trouble. You know how parents can be.
but this series isnt very mainstream, so who knows.

I only really remember Blue Gender playing on TV when adultswim were playing anime on a daily basis.

I watched Blue Gender when it was on Adult Swim and thought it was pretty lackluster. But now I'm watching Armored Trooper VOTOMS which is developed by the same guy and it makes me want to give it another shot.
On the topic of parental warning, I trust that most parents of young children nowadays are aware that not all animation is for kids.

Check out Dougram which came out before Votoms, same director/creator. Incredible stuff. Ryosuke Takahashi didn't actually direct Blue Gender himself though, just came up with the concept. I think the show falls apart in the second half unfortunately, but it started off really good and I have to assume Adult Swim censored it since it's really violent. It was totally Starship Troopers in the beginning, so I loved the second half but afterwards... yeah, eh.Nemoide wrote:I watched Blue Gender when it was on Adult Swim and thought it was pretty lackluster. He did direct Gasaraki though, which is equally weird and hit or miss. But his 80's stuff, Dougram, Votoms, Galient, and Layzner, are some of the best mecha shows out there for sure. Still waiting on Layzner to be fully subbed.
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Yeah VOTOMS is an awesome series. I've been dipping into the OVA stuff and it's all been solid so far, feels just like the series which is great. I'm a little nervous to check out the stuff from the 2000s but I will eventually. Dougram is on my to-watch list as well. As for Galient I couldn't really get into it. It was okay but just felt really... weird, but not a good weird. I liked Dunbine better as far as the bizarre mesh between mecha and medieval fantasy go.
As for me I'm currently rewatching/finishing the original Mobile Suit Gundam TV series. I'm not sure why I didn't like it before because I'm quite enjoying it now. When you think of it as it's own thing and disassociate it from all the trash the franchise has been producing for the past 15 years (although admittedly I haven't seen Turn A or X, and Gundam Unicorn is pretty good), it's entertaining and has a very charming personality. It will feel good to finally finish this series off. I think after this I'll go for some HEAVY METAL L-Gaim.

I finished Saint Seiya a few days ago. Gold Knight arc was my favorite, but the Asgard arc was good too. The final arc was just too filler-ish for me though. It was okay, and the last 2-3 episodes were very fitting like you said, but it felt really stale. The show is super repetitive in general though so maybe it was more me being tired of it than the content lacking. Either way the series was a good watch. I watched the first episode of the Hades OVA, but the intro turned me away so hard that I couldn't even complete the first ep. Is it worth it? The CGI put a terrible taste in my mouth also...

Just finished Outlaw Star, pretty awesome series. I do kind of wish they would have focused a little more on the Leyline and pirates in the middle of the story instead of squishing it into the end. I'm about to start El Hazard as lately I've been hearing good things about it (people compare it to Tenchi Muyo a lot). If it's anywhere near as enjoyable as Tenchi I'll be able to have a great time with it.

Just got this:

So perhaps I'll watch Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal for the first time in quite a while.

Way to mention the best AU Gundam's next to G hands down. The whiney shit is left to Wing, SEED, and 00... lol. Turn A and X are awesome, X has one of the coolest main characters in the whole franchise probably:brunoafh wrote:As for me I'm currently rewatching/finishing the original Mobile Suit Gundam TV series. Hades is more than worth it dude. Did you not finish the OP? Since it has the original OP playing right after it, I thought that was a cool touch.

theres another series based on the outlaw star universe. Its called Angel Links. I haven't seen it though. I'm sure someone here has.Dylan wrote:Just finished Outlaw Star, pretty awesome series. You will definetely enjoy El-hazard. Its one of my favorite anime. It's one of the early series that made me a fan.
Tenchi and el hazard are done by the same studio AIC, so they have a similar style.
Once you're done watching these go and find "Dual- parallel trouble adventures" Its a series that has some connections to Tenchi muyo. And its frome the same animation studio.
good stuff
