Funny Story!

Ok, so I decide I want to try that switch trick to make my Saturn switch from US to JP. So me and my friend take my saturn apart and drill a perfect hole in the side and the switch goes in flawlessly. We solder all the points to the swtich and begin on the saturn mainboard. So about 4 hours and a big meal later the board is a total MESS. I mean the solder wouldn't stick or melt right. It was totally ruined. The system still turns on but I mean WHOA did me and my friend screw this board over royally.

I think I am going to invite people over and turn it on and flick the switch randomly for fun.

Anybody have some funny stories to share about their experiences trying to mod a system?

Yea, it makes me sad too... So what do you mean it wouldnt stick, did the contacts (the metal circles on the board) peel off while you were soldering? I don't know if you can fix that at all, perhaps I should ask my boss tommorow.

It was funny because we started making jokes about the switch. I try to find the humor in things cause now I had to buy a new Saturn...it kind of sucks. I think I will just use the swap trick to boot imports; until I can afford a Japanese Saturn that is.

And yes the contacts came off when my friends hand slipped. It's pretty much a lost case. =\

the swap trick is downright annoying..it´s way easyer to mod it and play burned cd´s unless you have mastered the swap trick

well can i play burned import games on the saturn with a modchip? or do i have to rip it change the region and burn it to a CD-R?

Alright, to semi fix the no contacts problem, find where the contact lead to on the board. Basically when you see the line coming from that point, follow it to the next point. You can take a wire (Like the one you see on racketboy's mod chip) and bring it from point A to B, solder the two points together and wholla! Make sure that's where it connects to though, or you may have more problems.
