What was your best generation for video game console's
Re: What was your best generation for video game console's
The N64 is what I remember the most. I also remember having an NES which I loved. And I know we had a Super Nintendo also but for some reason the NES and N64 really stuck out the most for me. Probably because all of the games my brother had for the Super Nintendo were lame. haha

16 bit!!!!!!!!!!!! No question.
SNES + Genesis + Sega CD + TurboGrafx-16 + Turbo CD = the greatest era of gaming.
Honestly, I could play games from that era for the rest of my life and probably be pretty content with it.
On a side note, I'd say the handhelds peaked much later than the home systems with the DS/PSP being the strongest ever.

16 bit for me as well. Gen 6 may have the DC, my favorite console of all time, but the SNES and Genesis rank 2nd and 4th respectively, and beat the hell out of the GC/OXB/PS2.

PS2 is my favorite console. Tons of variety, new games as well as old ones and retro compilations. The PS2's library reaches back to Atari 2600 games! Besides that, the original games are incredible and the PS1/2 library is absolutely gigantic. You just can't run out of games to play!

My favourite is the Sat/PS/N64 era. I think it was the biggest leap forward between generations so far, it was pretty exciting at the time.
Also, all the of the consoles had a distinct set of games, I can think of relatively few games that got released on all 3 of the major platforms in that gen and the ones that did normally had something different in each port, like extra levels and bonus mini game. From my point of view it was when gaming transformed into a pastime for geeks, into entertainment for the masses.
