Downloaded one of those. If I can't figure out what the hell I'm doing, oh well, it'll be good for editing podcasts, at least.

I think Audacity is free, from what I understand. I have 3.0 on my system but I actually use CoolEdit pro, which is technically an older version of Audacity.
My recording interface (because I just use acoustic guitar and vox for now) is a simple M-Audio Fastrack. It cost about $180 over a year ago. I eventually would love to get something like a Presonus Firestudio so I can record drums properly but at the mo, things work great for me.
I love recording. Its repetitive, hard work, and I probably don't use half of the items in the software I have - but I'll be damned if it isn't fun as hell!

Yeah, I have Audacity, which is what I currently use to edit my podcast and other sounds I have (such as the cast's intro).

I'm actually surprised I haven't posted in this thread yet. I play both keyboards and bass but I'm very rusty at both as I haven't practiced in a while (school and my other hobbies take up my free time).
In terms of gear, I've got a Korg Monotron, Roland Juno-106 and a Roland Jupiter-4, the latter two of which are old analog synths. The Jupiter is a bit temperamental at times but it's my favorite of the bunch, and my dad managed to get an incredible deal on it (he got it for my 17th birthday for $250) so I can't see myself ever getting rid of it. The Juno required some work as it had a filter issue (very common with these) but it's in excellent condition and even came with the manual! I have yet to do anything with the Monotron but I see much potential in it. My bass is a blue Squire P-Bass, which works fine for my needs.
I'd love to pick up another synth but space and cash prevent me from doing so. I'd like to pick up a Yamaha DX7 again (which was the first synth I ever owned), but if cost was no object I'd love to get this beauty:
I've always wanted to play in a band or become involved in production or studio engineering, but my skills have never been that good enough. Sometimes I'll connect my Juno through MIDI and goof around in GarageBand but that's about it these days.

Cool! Just found this thread. I've mentioned it in the Metal Heads Assemble thread but I have a band! Woo. I'm the guitarist, my friend Shane is our beast drummer and our singer Tom is the perfect sob we thought we'd never find. Still looking for a bassist. We're a weird band that likes to get nice and heavy... so we're a weird metal band, I guess. You be the judge! We've been making fans out of unlikely folks (old country dude?! rap dude?!) Please check us out!
I'm too lazy to re-upload them here, but there are pics of our equipment here
And this band! THIS BAND! I'm friends with the bass player so I'll happily share their link:Circus of Dead Squirrels http://www.reverbnation.com/circusofdeadsquirrels It's industrial metal with a wicked sense of humor... lot's of video game references in their earlier work! Great band!
