Or do you mean Kane? Because Hossa didn't even go in the shootout. Only Toews and Kane. And Kane's goal was amazing.Luke wrote:Hossa's SOG was incredible.

As someone who follows a team from the eastern time zone that has been stuck in the western conference I totally agree!

Kane, my bad.YoshiEgg25 wrote:Or do you mean Kane? Because Hossa didn't even go in the shootout. Only Toews and Kane. And Kane's goal was amazing.Luke wrote:Hossa's SOG was incredible.
I watched sportscenter at 5am if that is a viable excuse.

With Christmas coming up soon, that means the trade freeze will take in place until next week.
Boy, I sometimes hate being right: I did predict the Wild being in the middle of the Western Conference (within the playoff bubble), and didn't went cuckoo when they were at the top of ALL NHL teams. Now I hope they can start winning again after X-mas; on my wish list for the Wild, let's determine if the kids playing in the WJC are much better than any potential trade target - folks here are going gaga for the Devil's Zach Praise (I would rather sign him as a free agent), and who are the ones that are willing to stand up - hate it when this team goes thru a slump w/o Koivu in the lineup.
I still think this team will make it to the 2nd rd of the playoff at best, need more goals from forwards and more time for the young players to develop.

Bumping it up with the All Star break,
Boy, is it joyful for the Wild to win 2 games in a row, after an endless slump; I do think the Wild will grab a spot in the playoffs - outlasting the Stars, Avs, Flames and DD (Desert Dogs -> Dead Dogs for good).
It's a shame no Wild players will be present for the All-Star game (Nick Johnson in the Rookie game is a minor consolation), but they be ready for the last push.
As for the trading deadline, I do hope the Wild will be able to pick up talent that can help us long-term - NOT short term; again and again, I do think the Wild should pursue Zach Parise in the off-season (hopefully in a deal no more than $60 million/7yr), not get him now for any of the top prospects or 1st rd picks -> this team still needs to stock up on talent, the slump did show this weakness.
It is a shame that the NHLPA started the fire on the CBA negotiation by shooting down the realignment proposal - complete bulls**t on needing more time to decide, when it should be clear that the Wild, Stars, and Jets players will benefit the most, while other players would have little to lose. I do think there will not be a long-term lockout if both sides failed to settle, but things will get nasty in the next 6 months.
I do think the NHLPA have vested interests in the Coyotes relocation (losing massive money is a no-win for everyone), maybe to the Golden Triangle Area (GTA) outside of Toronto - after all the Leafs are now owned by two media companies, where one could split to own another team (if that is legal in Canada).
Anyone have something to say about their NHL team?

Golden Horseshoe. I lived in Hamilton for a few years and I have never heard it referred to as anything BUT the Golden Horseshoe.skyknight wrote:Is there a common name for the area surrounding the outskirts of Toronto, I do hear Golden ____ from other people.ZenLogikos wrote:I believe you meant "Golden Horseshoe", skyknight.

OK, hearing from the guys up north should clear things up for me. Yeah, there is still rumors that if Phoenix fails to find a buyer, it could head to that region - will add 1 team to the new realigned Eastern Conference and balance both sides. I don't buy that the news that there is a "serious" buyer for the Yotes -> any business that has the right mind to lose massive money in a market that does not have the love for hockey? Look at Winnipeg, and I think the Yotes should've moved back instead of the Thrashers - just to right the wrong from the past.Yancakes wrote:Golden Horseshoe.
