Did you make it through the storm okay, RB?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My yard is like quicksand. About a week ago, the internet, phone, and TV for me and half the city went out for a day, I think it was because of the weather.
I am originally from KC (Lee's Summit to be exact), and I can vouch for the crazy weather. Although I have to admit, I do prefer thunderstorms over icestorms any day. :)
Yeah, I'm glad winter is pretty tame here. Just one or two big storms and then nothing. Last winter I actually wore t-shirts and long-sleeved shirts pretty much the entire season except when it snowed.

Damn. The closest thing to a flood I've had is about a inch of water around the outside of my warehouse, and that's probably because it's on a hill and doesn't have much soil to absorb it. Indiana must be a giant crater.

Yeah Japan has their rainy/monsoon season and it not only sucks but blows. There are so many typhoons here that they count them as they come and go. "Typhoon #25 will be coming across Kyoto in the evening so watch out for 80mph winds in the afternoon."

I was coming back from Lawrence when it hit, and it become completely dark, and the streets were too reflective to even see the paint lines, so twice I got flung off the wrong exits and got lost in some bumfuck areas. Coupled with my abysmal navigation skills, I was pretty screwed. Had to dodge a few flooded streets that I was scared would sweep my tiny car away. Almost drove my front right tire down into an open manhole too. Fun.

I just wear short sleeves all year. Long sleeves bother me. I pretty much never wear a coat, even at the peak of winter. Just a fleece type of jacket thing. I got some nordic blood in me or something, because people constantly tell me I'm crazy for wearing so little on the coldest days.

Jeeze, I wish we could get some of those storms down here. It seriously hasn't rained in a month, and it's somehow still humid. Plus, the temperature's getting over 100 degrees. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if my air conditioner hadn't busted, but we got a bad compressor, so good luck fixing that. Every repairman has just told us to cough up 2 or 3 grand to fix it.

I can't even run my computer or consoles because I'm so worried about heat issues. This freaking sucks.

Nope. Coolest we can get any of our rooms is about 80, and thats with all windows open, and every fan in the house running in that room. Our place is two stories, and all the windows face either east or west, so the sun's constantly coming through. We cover the windows during the day and open them during night to let the cooler air in. I'm having to head to my girlfriend's place to play my PS2, and her toilet's busted...not my summer.

Reminds me of Hurricane Ivan when we had our power knocked out for a week or so. Don't miss those days...
Well best of luck on getting things back to normal!
