You know what really brings my piss to a boil? When a retailer decides to put a 2 by 4 inch price tag on the cover of a game. And I don't mean the case: I mean they actually took the time to take the glossy-paper out of the DS cases plastic surface, and put the price tag on the paper itself. The SPINE of all places.
In an attempt to take it off, there is of course, a tear on the cover. It doesn't really matter in the long run, since its just a fu**ing cover, but still dissapointing.
How have you guys dealt with these situations?
Price Labels
Re: Price Labels
I've had luck freezing stickers and getting them to come of without tearing what they're on, but I've never tried that on a DVD insert (or something similar). A better option would probably be to heat the sticker with a blow dryer for a while, when the glue is nice and hot it should be able to pretty much slide off. Then use (lightly) some Goo Gone to remove the sticky left behind.
Re: Price Labels
The game store around here is actually "partly-owned" by a guy who plays and collects games himself, and he's the guy who prices and puts the price stickers on everything. You would think that being a collector and all that, he would appreciate the games enough to not put stickers on the labels, but no, sometimes he puts them right on the edge of the label, which makes it even harder to take them off without messing up or peeling off part of the label.

Not by me. I try not to go there often because that guy (and the way he does things) irks me.Hobie-wan wrote:Has this been brought up with him?

Re: Price Labels
You guys should point this out to the shops instead of just silently smoldering. Explain why it is a problem so no more things are messed up or set up for needing careful cleaning.

Re: Price Labels
Well, the price sticker was put on before the place I got it from (used book store) re-sold it. Thankfully, the book store put their own prices in less offensive areas. I think it was a Gamestop sticker
I find it strange that a BOOK store does a better job at maintaining VIDEO GAME products than a video game store.
A used-video game store nearby, which is owned by avid collectors, avoid putting price tags on anything not plastic. Their only main issue is having this obscure equilibrium price, making $1 games $15 and making $35 games $20.

A hair dryer is usually successful. I used it to get the original price sticker off my Earthbound box with no damage.
