Re: New SNK Handheld!?
wonder what the price tag would be here in America? Certainly fascinated as I just read about this on IGN. More competition the better

what is it competing against though? Those games are all currently available for many other systems PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, (DS?)... and all those other systems play lots more games. This system will be limited to NeoGeo games (it sounds like). So I'm not really sure it's much more than a niche item for SNK enthusiasts to pick up even though they already have all those games in multiple other formats.

this handheld seems like another "Atari Flahsback" device, but with NeoGeo this time.

I'm with Noise, I don't get all the hype. This isn't a new system or anything, something we have seen for years it just has Neo Geo printed on it. I wrote a short little news post about it at RetrowareTV.

Re: New SNK Handheld!?
I can definitely see the appeal of a portable emulation device, and this thing certainly has a smaller footprint than a PSP so it's got that going for it too. I've never used a Dingoo/equivalent, but the build quality on this thing looks damn solid. All that remains to be seen is how easy it is to hack and what kind of functionality it has; the fact that it has the SD slot (though why not MicroSD?) means they have at least some plans for expansion.
My real question though: can it do multiplayer?

What would make this even better is if SNK-Playmore made games exclusively for this "system."
Otherwise, yeah, it's just another fancy-looking emulator...

Or re-releases of NGPC games made for the new hardware. A boy can dream I guess...

I get all the hype. It has the NEO.GEO logo in a gold color on it. I´d buy a turd with that logo on it.

You know what they should do? Release some prototype unreleased MVS game on this handheld!
I´m Kind of a neogeo fan, only I never really knew it I guess.
Three seperate post about one topic? has this ever happened before? (offcourse it has, but still)
Not a fan of handhelds although I do own several rare and obscure ones.
I have to admit, if Santa were to come through the door now with this I´d be happy as a kid again.
Where are the mock up fan made fake advertisements?

Do you want your eyes to go cross eyed or do you want raw 24-bit power?

Can´t wait

noiseredux wrote:I think that other than saying NEOGEO on it, and looking really damn cool, it's completely pointless. It sounds like it's just a NG emulator and nothing more. Which is a lot less cool when you realize that we all already own a bunch of machines that emulate those same games and more -- both officially and unofficially.
True. But if it's for $80, has a clicky-stick and NGPC emulation (Radio Dowsing?) it's be a really nice display/play piece.
