Problem with playing EU/PAL imports on my DC with Boot Disk!

Post by Dylan921 »

Hey everyone, i recently started playing imports on my DC with a boot Disk, playing Japanese imports with no problem, I've been able to boot Garou and MVC. My issues seem to lie when booting up EU/PAL imports, i own 2 at present Crazy Taxi and Soul Calibur. My method is as follows:

1. insert the boot disk which is Utopia V2 (i have tried the earlier ones as well)
2. allow it to boot the boot disk.
3. swap to my import, wait for it to load.

what happens is when it gets to the % it'll either start and stop at some point or wont move at all. I WAS able to get Soul Calibur to boot to menu but then after selecting the mode i wanted to play it sat there on a black screen and did nothing.

any help is much appreciated.

Keep in mind that Utopia isn't really that reliable, but sometimes it may have to do with how you burn the images.
Use Diskjuggler and follow this tutorial if you haven't already:

It kind of worked, i was able to play a few rounds in Soul Calibur's Survival mode before it locked up. :( is there anything more reliable than Utopia? I also tried DC-X it didnt work with anything i have.

Couldn't tell ya buddy, I've only ever used Utopia... for other media. Google is your friend though!

I have DC-X, and it works for my Japanese DDR 2nd Mix game and also for my European Shenmue II. I don't think it can be burned, only purchased.

I suppose it might be best i get a mod chip then, I heard about the 4 wired chip, has anyone had any dealings with this mob? www.goldenshop.com.hk . Or could anyone suggest a site that still sells the mod chips and have had dealings with, without any problems. Thanks

To region mod the Dreamcast you don't need a mod chip. You simply need to solder in 1 wire, then you can run a Region Changing Disc to change the region.
