Hi All,

I cannot seem to access the tuttorial on burning saturn games on the mac on this site - I just used the tutorial on this site to convert a modchip to use on my 1st model ( Gray 20 pin ) saturn - IT WORKS !!! IT WORKS !!! IT REALLY WORKS !!!

It took a while but now I am very happy

I have downloaded a saturn game " Hercs adventurers " , I have a ISO, CUE & MP3 Files, I used to create enhanced audio CD's years ago in a multimedia job, I think they were blue book standard, and I do remember being able to burn saturn games successfully back then on a mac system under os 9 - without a cue file using the blue book method.

I am a graphic artist so I only have a mac to use, so I need a refresh, yes I know that the new versions of Toast are Crap - with a capital C as you cannot make blue book standard cdroms. '

My question is - why cannot log in to see the tutorial on this site ??

Also can anyone share the process of burning a saturn game on a mac, I know that you have to convert the MP3's into Aiff's or Wav's, heres how I think I did it then . . .


1. Create a disk image for the iso file through toast and copy the data from the existing ISO into the new iso created by toast.

2. Put you converted audio Aiff's / Wav's and burn a session on a blank as a audio cd

3. In toast change to the enhanced cdrom / multitrack XA and drop the iso containing the game data and burn the disc

Technically this is how I did it all those years ago but I think I am missing some steps, can some one help us out here ?

Yes I wanted to know this too. Why is there a login for the burning saturn games on a mac.

I'm currently using Parallels with Windows XP and burning them through Alcohol 120% (most are in MDF format).

You can use Audacity to convert mp3 to wav. Then edit the cue file so that it has a link to the binary file (either iso or bin) and all the audio files have .wav on the end. Then open the cue file in Toast and it should recognise all the files if the cue has been made correctly. I'm not sure if this works for saturn games but I know it will burn it without throwing up any errors.

I want to know the proper way of burning Saturn games on a Mac because most of the games i've burnt in alcohol 120% through virtualisation only partially work (they were burnt at 4x as well). They either work for a little while then crash, or in the case of Astal play the opening movie over and over and over. Pressing start just starts the movie again!

Well, I mean, you could make some. It would probably take a few weeks before you could broach the old "Let me borrow your PC so I can burn backups of Shining Force 3!" conversation though.

same here. sadly, it is difficult. I've seen some tutorials online for dreamcast isos (i assume its the same method- discs as images or whatever), but they all require like.... toast 5. I haven't been able to find that and they swap everything around on every version of toast.

i found some stuff about burning disc images (iso) on a mac. Apparently you can do it in disc utility. I haven't tried it, but i think i might try to download rez for the DC and see if it works.

Disc images are a fairly common packaging standard for large software programs. If you want to try out a new Linux distribution, for example, chances are you'll need to download a disc image in ISO format and burn it to a blank CD-ROM or DVD.

But ever since I began using Mac OS X, I've been perpetually confused about how to burn ISO images. I'm used to disc burning utilities that have an obvious, explicit command like "Burn ISO Image to CD." To make life even more confusing, OS X's Disk Utility does have a Burn command, but it becomes disabled when you click on the blank disc you'd like to use for the burn.

The problem here is that most Mac disc utilities, including the built-in Disk Utility, take a different approach when it comes to image burning. Instead of telling the program you want to burn an image, then choosing the file, you're supposed to do the reverse: You choose the file, then tell the program you want to burn it. So, to burn an ISO image to disc, here's what to do:

1. Insert a blank disc.
2. Start Disk Utility.
3. From the File menu, choose Open Disk Image and select the ISO to be burned.
4. In the list of volumes, you will now see an item representing the ISO file. Select it.
5. Click the Burn button and follow the instructions.

That's it! Sure, it may seem simple enough, but when you've been using Linux and Windows utilities for years, these steps can be a little perplexing and hard to remember.

Also found that many people swear by a program called "dragon burn" The demo out there gives you 10 burns for free, so if you are having trouble with disc utility, you might want to check that out.

Is your Mac Power-PC or Intel based? If it is Intel based you should really considering tossing XP on there using Boot Camp or Parallels.

I was thinking that too, but I don't really want to use all my hard drive space for windows. Even if you get rid of all the useless stuff microsoft puts in there it's still takes up alot of space.

hmmm... the disc utility method sounds promising. Nickfil please post if you get it to work!
