Consoles or games that have a good story behind them?

Post by BRIK »

Or might. For example I opened up my Famicom the other day to give it a clean and it was full of saw dust! Who knows what it's story is, as it's been halfway around the world before I received it. Who knows what it would say if it could talk!
Anyone have any similar stories?

I had a Wonder Boy 3 cart for the Master System. It took me many tries to get it going, and then after I did every game I played on the system would glitch out after a minute, if it would start at all. I opened up wonder boy to have a look/clean it and it was a bit like someone had used it as an ashtray.

I got a heap of sega games from a guy getting rid of his collection, and there was a brief and explicit love note inside one of the games (Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle I think). It was written in sharpie on a scrap of tissue paper. I'd love to post a pic of it but I won't since I know the 2 people involved!

My first copy of Legacy of the Wizard didn't work. When I opened it up I saw that it was full of SAND.

Just the other day I bought a Final Fantasy game and the last owner's save file was for 136 hours! I'm actually shocked that anyone would sell a game after sinking that much time into it.

Once I got a used controller that was coated in a fine layer of cheeto dust.

I had a copy of DK64 with a 99-hour save on it. I could never sink that much time into one single game.

While living in Japan I met a girl whose step-dad worked for an advertising agency which did work for Sega back in the 80s. She told him I was into old games. He had a brand new, never used, never opened JPN Master System and Mega Drive in storage. He told me if I made the drive out to where he had his stuff stored (about a 45 minute drive) that I could take them. I took them. This was the summer of 2008.
