Can't say I'm not either. Do you see an Xbox in my sig? ;)

I see a Wii :D Tons of great classic inspired games on it ;)[/quote]

Too be totally honest that's the only console there that isn't actually mine. It's a joint family owned thing in my household. Can't say I play it very much though.

It's exactly the same in my house. Only console that's a family belonging, and I don't use it much. My younger siblings have kinda ruined the controllers, in addition to the fact that Wii just doesn't have all that much that interests me.

this.

you admit to not really spending much if any time playing games from this gen, make blanket and untrue statements about FPSs, multiplayer, leaderboards, etc., essentialize those who grew up playing games during whatever "console wars" you might be referring to, and generally come across as old man "get off my lawn you kids!"

As someone who has been playing games since the 2600 days, I'm of the opinion that there's never been a better time to be a gamer than this generation.

I don't agree with the OP's stance 100% or this one, but I do have to ask "why"? Why is right now considered an equal or better time to be a gamer?

more choices of genres and play styles, more viable platforms, more variety in design, more access to old games in physical or virtual form, more independent game development and more impressive big-budget big-studio games, etc.

THIS.

My first console was 2600 (unless you count the C64 as a console). I personally feel like the current gen is an amazing time to be a gamer. Pick a genre; pick an art style; pick a mood (etc) and you will surely find too many quality games to choose from at your fingertips right now.

My thoughts exactly. There are so many choices out there, something for everyone and plenty of it. Too much in fact that I am coming to terms with the realization that there will be some quality games that I won't have time to play and will miss out on the experience.

Do you believe everything you read over the Internet let alone from some prick on a forum? I know I don't.
