I was going to get that goddamn record. I willed myself to it. That was my ninth attempt at it. Seriously. That video, from where it started, was over an hour into the video I'm sending into Twin Galaxies.

That's awesome dude! Just showed my kids the vid and they thought it was pretty cool too. I explained to them that the white bars look "bigger" than they are on the vid as those old monitors don't refresh like new ones - that didn't impress them anymore, but it did impress my wife Congrats.

Thanks dude! It really is radically different from anything you see now, or even saw in the early '80s. I mentioned in the blog post on my Tumblr that the only color on that screen was foil that was taped onto the screen. It's so old-school, and that's one reason why it was the most popular tournament at the Grassroots Gaming Expo back in August. I didn't really even participate in that tournament. I think I ended up playing only one game of it while I was there. But then it was popular enough for Pat to put it into the arcade. And I found out I was pretty good at it. And I got really good. And so I went for the record. And got it.

Congrats! So how many quarters do you think you pumped into the machine to get to the level where you're at?

Honestly, not as many as I've pumped into Donkey Kong Junior. I think I've probably only dropped 30 tokens into that machine. Maximum. It helps that if you score over 450 points on your first go, then you automatically get another play. That, and if I play more than twice in a row, my legs start shaking uncontrollably because of my stance while playing. I didn't upload my previous eight attempts but I continually mention that I have trouble standing during the breaks in between each round.

Thanks Hobie. And yes; it did inspire Kaboom. Kaboom was actually meant to be drop-down like Avalanche but the 2600 hardware was more suited to have the boulders on the side of the screen than on top.

ticked sold my personal virtual boy on ebay at the start of december guy emails me saying he finally tried it and said it doesn't work when it was fine when i packed in 2 rolls of bubble wrap cause i played one last time the auction was no returns so it is covered by paypal protection now the guy just emailed me saying i ruined his kids christmas what should i do

payed more to ship faster arrived dec 8th
wanted it for christmas doesn't test it till the 29th
emails me dec 29th saying right lcd is fuzzy
i say fine send it back
he starts dispute jan 4th
ebay sides with him jan 5th they want dc on it
jan 12th guy says it is coming usps
i check dc number it says it is still in wa jan 20 which is day 44
a stranger shows up at my house with a ups package with my name and there address on it it is the box i shipped in dec cause my address is on the other side
that is how the guy found me i open it to find a trashed vb it does not power on at all there is rust on the stand and system screws there is a weird smell of burning plastic and cat pee i don't have a cat i only sold it cause i needed money to go to the dr's is there anything i can do since this guy ruined the system
