That's not right...

Best example for me is the Legendary Edition of Halo 3. All reviews were super positive as if this was the best game of all times. Of all times... None spoke of the broken sound mix. I paid €100 for the friggin' game in pre-order. Once I had it, I put the disc in my 360, started playing, only to find out the guns sounded like NERF guns. I played it for 45 minutes, ejected the disc, and never ever looked at the game again. I did however look it up on the internet, just to find out I was not the only one that noticed this problem. Rechecked every once in a while hoping for a patch, only to see Bungie ignored the problem completely. Even on their own site...

Halo 3 sound issues

Now thàt is what I call taking the money, and run. They stole my €100, plain and simple...

One I avoided with illegal downloads -and lending 2 seasons on DVD from a friend- was the Battlestar Galactica reinvention. A series that started off so well, only to turn into the pile of shit it was in the last season due to lazy writing and too many plotholes that were at this point impossible to fill up. Up until the last season I was convinced I was going to buy the collector's Blu-Ray box. A pretty expensive box. After seeing the last episodes through illegal download I was happy that I didn't waste my money on that piece of shit. Thank you illegal download...

In fact, I would go as far as to say that illegal downloads possibly help the industry. Not the other way around. If something is worth the money, most people will buy the original product at some point, even if they downloaded it first. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this...

No one is forcing you to buy the same song over and over. If you have it on vinyl, keep playing it on your turntable. Oh, you want it on your iPod, then buy a USB turntable and rip it.

Which games have 5 thumbs up reviews that you bought and consider to be shovelware? If you don't like the game, then resell it. You should be able to get a good portion of your money back. Or try the game out at a store or get it from the library (many libraries have video games for loan) or find some YouTube video walkthroughs on it.

No one is forcing anyone to empty out their wallet for a movie. If it's too much, then don't buy it. Wait to see it on free TV. Do something else other than watch a movie such as reading books, playing board games, etc. Watching a movie is not a necessity.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Playable demos do help me make a decision on whether or not to purchase a game. Since you got burned with the Halo game, I suggest that you don't preorder games in the future. Just wait a few weeks after release and see if it's worth it.

Illegal downloads do not help me purchase a movie. I only watch movies once. That's why I use Amazon streaming or watch on-demand or DVR recorded movies.

You know, compared to these two, Hatta's wanting to smoke weed doesn't seem that bad.

It would've been almost impossible to avoid this one with all the raving reviews in both magazines and on the internet. Only a very focussed search would've brought me to this issue. Sometimes one doesn't see until he knows what to look for...

Okay, but can you name a single piece of entertainment where that is not the case? I still don't see where the justification for either a refund or a defense of piracy is.

Err, your question does not compute...

Maybe I'm just tired. It's 3AM here. I'm going to bed...

Night night...

I still don't understand how an individual isn't the sole one responsible for deciding to spend their personal resources on a bad product. Whether they got "ripped off" or not is inconsequential, they simply have to deal with the decision that they made on their own.

Guys, obviously we're missing where someone was forced to buy entertainment at gunpoint, lest their family be murdered in front of them. Or was it that if they don't play new games every 60 days the bus will explode? Nono wait, they're addicted to games and if they don't have their fix they can't function for the day. Shit, consume entertainment or god kills a kitten? I can't keep it all straight guys. :?
