Yes, they broke the law. But the fact that they broke the law isn't why they've been arrested. Hollywood is infamous for its fraudulent accounting practices, when has anyone gone to jail for that? Megaupload allegedly cost 500 million in profits. Wall Street cost the economy trillions of dollars a couple years ago, and they've yet to do anything about that.

So yes, they're criminals. Everyone's a criminal in America. Megaupload's real mistake was being uppity.

Tell me this: Is it not stealing from me when a DVD yes that the movies is the best ever and when I watch it I feel as if watching to hamsters get it on would be more entertaining? Are they not lying to me to free me of the burden of 20 dollars for a blu-ray with statements as such? How about changing formats, vinyl, 8 track, cassette, CD, now MP3, how many times must I pay for the same song? What about video games, anyone not feel ripped off when they realized the picture on an Atari box had nothing to do with a game?

Until these people are willing to refund my money when they have sold or re-sold what is no longer value for my dollar then I say they can kiss my ass.

When is enough going to be enough for them? If mega upload was giving them a cut it never would have happened. There are people in this world who cannot afford to pay over and over again for movies that continue to let them down in the value they get. There are people who work for weeks to buy a new movie or game only to find they have bought a piece of shit. Speaking of which, how many of you have had Fallout freeze up on you? Getting any refunds for busted software? Isn't selling you something that is not as advertised or broken the same as STEALING?

Now I am off to play Superman 64, glad I paid 50 bucks for that badboy!!
Um, you forgot "[/sarcasm]"

Either that or this is the most hateful, ignorant post about the entertainment industry I've ever read. You do realuze that a very sizable portion of the people working in Hollywood and in the Music industry are not performers and actors, and don't make a ton of money, right? Piracy hurts them about 1000x more tahn it hurts Lars Ulrich.

Complaing about the quality of a product is completely seperate from a debate about piracy, and equally as stupid. No one forces you to buy movies, album, and games. If you buy something shitty it is your fault for not researching, not the industry's. And it is no excuse for piracy.

Bullshit. Wall Street and Hollywood's shady practices are protected by bad regulatory law, and when those laws are broken people do actually go to jail, so don't pretend otherwise. In this case, Megaupload clearly violated existing law, including those that aren't specifically about piracy.

Not even mentioning that part of his argument suggests that no one should be arrested since Wall Street people werent indicted or arrested... Because there is some perceived injustice or problem that happened somewhere, doesnt mean everyone else gets a free pass.

Telling me a movies is great by showing the only good 30 seconds of it to me in a clip is not equal to stealing from me? I am not excusing anything here, but the truth is that they steal from me as much or more than I ever have from them. I am simply telling them that complaining about some people downloading is stupid. They have their hands out constantly. I dont see nintendo lining up to give refunds on the shovelware they pass off as games on the Wii. Nice flashy pictures, 5 thumbs up reviews, and wow ----the game sucks. Unless you are the only one in the world to never get sucked into buying a piece of Hollywood, or Nintendo, or ....well lets see, Atari (Jaquar)...this list can go on and on.

You collect 32x, how much did people pay for that? Did Sega refund anyones money because they shut it down so fast? Would anybody have actually bought it if they were told about the pending limit of titles to be released? Isnt that stealing in its own form? What about the Saturn, Dreamcast? All these had the plugs pulled early. When I had a choice between Dreamcast and PS2, what did I choose? Dreamcast, because SEGA promised it was the future. They lied, but they still kept my money. Are you really gonna defend their theft?

Now about those hollywood elite, I dont make those idiots pay them millions and millions. But if I want to see something that has the chance to be entertaining then I have to pay for these millions and millions of dollars they get. I dont negotiate these contracts, they do. Maybe if they were smarter with thier money they could make things more affordable to the average person. Which brings me to someone in a foriegn country. Should they be denied seeing a movie just because the average wage is a dollar a day? Work for a week to pay for a copy of the 15 remake of Star Trek.

These people live in a fantasy world, I live in reality. They have the right to charge me for something but I do not have the right to receive a refund when I do not receive a quality product. Or make me buy it time and time again every time the change formats. I cannot believe you are defending them. Go explain it to the person flipping your burger next time you go to Mcdonalds that they have to buy every piece of crap movie or music or game that gets rammed out the door.

UNTIL THEY ARE HONEST AND TRUTHFUL WITH WHAT THEY SELL THEN THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO STAND ON A PEDESTAL AND PREACH TO ME ABOUT OR ANYONE ELSE ABOUT PIRACY.

Why does the high up management person get to step down from his post when he is caught steeling but someone reaching into a till or snatching a something from a shelf go to jail? Is not a theft in any form still a theft? Is not their stealing from me not a theft as equal to downloading a song? Why am I or you or anybody else a worse criminal than them? The simple truth is that they are no better than anyone else.

Oh yeah and as far as the "poor" hollywood people go (the not famous folks). You want to know who is hurting them? Thier bosses and the actors and singer and such. I dont see them forgoing the millions to make sure these people have viable income. I dont see them sacrificing a damn thing. Maybe if they were not all so damn greedy they could spread out the millions and millions and millions of dollars. They as decent living caring human beings should be seeing to the welfare of the people who really do work hard and have earned the right to reasonable wages. Makes me wonder how many people these out of touch money whores have used and abused over the years. Maybe I should ask the woman in the porno getting her asshole ripped open by three guys to pay for the crack that the fast talking producer got her hooked on so she would stretch her legs open for the Hollywood superstar!

Enough said, going to bed, typing to much rambling bullshit.....all crime is a crime, one is not better than the other.

No one makes you buy anything. If the movies suck so bad why are you downloading them?

I also take it you do not believe it capitalism at all...

I really can't believe you are trying to say it is a crime if you don't get your money back on a movie you didn't enjoy. That is all purely subjective and up to opinion and there is a rarely a consensus on what is good or bad.

Holy crap indeed.

*insert my head if full of fuck picture*

Early adopters in all things take a risk. Maybe you get screwed, maybe you get in on the fun early and have a good experience or have something that goes up in value. Researching and waiting for opinions or (gasp and horror) going without some unproven entertainment hadn't killed anyone last time I checked.
