The RetroActive game room (Lots of photos!)

Post by KDub »

Well really this is my multipurpose geek room aka not the room I sleep in. Anyway let the posting of photos begin! Feel free to ask if you want more details on something, the collection isn't all that fancy but if you want to see something closer I'd be happy to get a better picture.

Actually these are in my bedroom for space reasons. The Genesis 2 is an extra and the PS2 I just use as a DVD player when I sleep.

I need to take a better photo of the CD games. But their are Dreamcast, Playstation, PC, and PS2 games (in the sleeves) there.

A lot of these PS2 games are not something I'd usually buy, they game in a lot.

Ok new pictures of the DC, N64, and Playstation Games that couldn't be seen before. There are some PC games of interest mixed with the PS1 games, they were in the same holder.

Bonus Ghostbusters photo ;)

liking the ghostbusters toys. had some of those when I was a kid.

I like your setup for the genesis/mastersystem game in their boxes.

Most of my games are cart only. I do have some boxes but they will not fit in my already cramped room.

good stuff my good man! :)

Looks great. The power glove is what makes your run-of-the-mill game room be extraordinary! 8)

I have more then one Genesis is the first reason and short of the answer (it looks nifty displayed on the wall!)

The long is this

I salvaged the Genesis from a junky resale shop around here (and by shop I mean converted garages in the outskirts of a town). It is scratched pretty bad, the power switch is busted, when I got it the volume slider was busted, and when I got home it wouldn't work. I payed $5 (took a gamble) for it and wanted to play around with it and more importantly use it for something funny in a video I was making.

First I tried to use it and like I said it was busted so I waited and used it for the video. In the one year anniversary video for RetroActive I opened it with a bit I called Genesis sledding. The scene had me try to sled down a snow covered hill on the Genesis very Jackass style and in one shot I just slammed into the hill and beat myself up pretty decently.

Later on I decided to try to get it to work again. Took it apart, cleaned it, tinkered with the RF and AV connectors to make sure they were getting a clean signal. I also decided that I would try and do stereo output mod and when I did that, I had the same awful signal issues I was getting before. So that was a dud! I later decided to order some new model 1 cables for my SMS and when I got them, cleaned the Genesis again, checked the AV connector and it worked. So I got the AV to work and since then I haven't tried the mod again (I disconnected it when I tried to get the AV output to work again). So it sits half modded, and used from time to time as a game system and other times as a cool wall hanger.
