Rank Your Top 5 2D Sonic Games

Post by racketboy »

I'm planning on starting a new series on the best games in a certain series.
I want to start with one of my personal favorites: Sonic the Hedgehog.
Since there is truly a divide between them, I want to do 2D and 3D Sonics separately.

I'm going to wait until I publish the article to share my personal views, but I want to hear your thoughts.
Rank your 5 favorite 2D Sonic games and try to share what you like about each and what makes certain ones better or worse than the others.

I haven't played a Sonic game in a while, but Sonic 3/ Sonic 3 with Knuckles is my favorite. I didn't really like Sonic 2 much and having played 2 and 3 first, Sonic 1 just felt weird without being able to charge. Never tried Sonic CD or Knuckles Chaotix.

Not yet, don't have a DS sadly. I think I'll get one soon. My consumer-sense says a pricedrop and/or a new DS is on the way.

Yeah, it's actually pretty fun and makes decent use of the dual-screens.

Yeah I was quite surprised on how good it was.
I guess the point I would like to make is that if you though Sonic Advance was good, you'll fall in love with Rush.

Assuming S3&K doesn't count.

2
S&K
3
1
CD

I could never enjoy the Advance series, and never tried Rush.

3 locked to S&K (or 3 on its own if that don't count)
Sonic CD
Sonic 1
Sonic Spinball
Sonic 2

yes I am one of the blasphemous. I don't like Sonic 2 all that much. 3 locked with S&K merely beats Sonic CD due to it's awesome length and good use of Super Sonic. Where as Sonic CD is just awesome. I love the soundtrack and really odd level designs. I can replay Sonic CD the most of all of them.

I'd love to see Sonic3/S&K remade with CD quality soundtrack like Sonic CD.
