once I install USB loader do I get scrubbed games? anyone know of a good guide or resources for utilities (i.e. loaders)?
And one more stupid question: I have been using my Club Nintendo points to redeem VC and WiiWare games, can I still do that once softmodded or is the WiiShop channel off limits?

What else are you planning on adding or doing now that it's modded?

I immediately installed WiiMC so I can play DVDs and other videos. I'll probably install some emulators and then get around to some system tools when I decide what I need.

Booger, on mine I have emulators for the NES, SNES, Genesis, TG16/PCE, Atari 7800, and Atari 2600. Each with most of the multiplayer games I would play on them, plus a smattering of single player titles. I also have USB loader GX and a Backup loader. On a secondary SD card I have an N64 emulator and roms, but it is outdated.

To get scrubbed images you can either download them yourself and use a program to transfer them to the harddrive OR you can put your disc into the console and tell it to rip it to the harddrive. Then Wii sports goes from being 4.7 gigs to .34 gigs. The biggest game Ive seen is Skylanders, which ripped is still around 4.5 gigs.

With the mandated updates, I worry about bricking my Wii, there is always a future Nintendo mandated update around the corner. I have done mods with PS1 Mod Chip soldering, PS2 Hard Drive install and Gamecube SD Card DOL files. However the current consoles have built in Flash Memory in the Bios. Maybe I'm over cautious, but would rather not take a chance.

I want to continually access online for game demo downloads, reviews and play every single game without dealing with the constant update of a crack patch and concern if a newer Nintendo update would kill a modded Wii. I wonder if the crop of fifty demos I downloaded last week also included a hidden check for a modded Wii patch? Something to think about when you mod a Wii, DSi, PSP, PS3, 360 or even your Cell Phone.

Yeah...

First off I seriously doubt Nintendo's going to be releasing anymore updates, with the wiiU coming out this year and the fact that Nintendo’s not going to be releasing any big titles on the system after skyward sword.

Even if they did it's incredibly easy to block them. Literally you just push a button.

Soft modding your Wii is probably the best thing you can possibly do to it. It unlocks a plethora of untapped resources with in the system and if you ask me, makes it allot better console. Whatever "risk" there is in modding it is well worth it.
