Recommend an HDTV

Post by fuctfuct »

Today I am returning the one i have now (Toshiba 37AV500U HDTV) because the volume always goes up and down, the VGA has a weird problem and a few other annoying things :P.

Another thing that bugged me but isn't why im returning it.. is that my SNES (and i assume other older consoles will have problems) has a bad frame rate on it and the sound glitches. http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... highlight=

So since i will be buying a new one in the next few days can anyone recommend one that works well with older games?

I'm looking at this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/prodde ... 769&catid=#

I have 42" Vizio Gallevia 1080p lcd cost me $1200.00 has a great picture and has been trouble free. I love this TV and will be a life long customer. Its the best TV you can get for the price I bought it last year so the price might have gone down since.

If I were you i'd get a Samsung if going LCD and a Panasonic Viera if you're going for Plasma. I wouldn't buy a Sony because build quality is shocking. Plus they're famous for products dying very quickly. Every Sony product i've ever had has crapped out on me at some point.

My PSP died the other week. Won't charge the battery, I can only play it at the mains now, Grrr… So much for portable games system… My sony minidisc player died after 14 month, facia buttons stopped working completely, no way to repair as the buttons were a sealed unit. Sony Discman died after 13 month, skipped on every single CD even when placed on a table, Playstation stopped reading disks, Playstation 2 stopped reading disks, just this week my slimline PS2 has started skipping on DVDs. Everything that I have had Sony has broken far before it should have, and what a coincidence, just a few months after warranty has run out (apart from the Playstations, which took a few years to break)

BTW I take the utmost care of my stuff, they are generally (with the exception of my Wii, 360 and Saturn, never moved from the place they were installed, except to dust/clean them. I still have the baggies and twisties for my NES for christ sakes!

You have had some back luck, wow! On the other hand, I've had great luck with Sony TVs. My first Trinitron lasted over 10 years with basically no degradation, my second CRT is still perfect after 6 years, and my new little Bravia is pure gold!

I agree Samsung also makes great LCD screens.

Edit: I do believe Sony's TVs to be of greatly higher quality than the other products they make.

Xbox 360 looks good.. maybe a little less vibrant then the TV i returned but i have yet to "tweak" it.
Wii looks way better then on the last TV (Component)
SNES looks .. like an SNES on an HDTV lol .. but no glitching or weird frame rate shit :P

Thats all i tested so far.
