JAZZ JACK RABBIT IS [a really fun game]
who here remembers this awesome game?
Re: JAZZ JACK RABBIT IS THE SHIT
I love Jazz Jack Rabbit! Have PC 1-2 and Holiday Special, Mac Jazz 2, GBA and Dreamcast homebrew version of 1. Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the games that gives me justification to keep my ancient iMac CRT around. The G3 board is compatible with dual boot of OS9 games.
The first Jazz Jack Rabbit runs in DOS and has a sort of 3D bonus level every so often. Been a while since i played it, something about collecting stuff I think.

Re: JAZZ JACK RABBIT IS THE SHIT
I have the demo for #1 and I think the full game for #2 on another Apogee CD.
The demo still had that 3D level too... those things were over too fast to collect all the gems unless you knew how to navigate the (randomly generated?) maze you were thrown in. The first game would have made a great competitor to Bubsy and Sonic on consoles.

Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Wow thats sick I only had jazz jack rabbit 2 and i played it to death. Is one much different?

Think of 1 as a more closer zoomed in view of 2 with VGA graphics and only single player. You can see screenshots linked in my previous reply. The 3d bonus levels reminds me of older Mario Cart. It runs in DOS, should work in DOS Box. Don't forget about the GBA and homebrew Dreamcast versions if you want to try on something besides the PC.[email protected] wrote:Wow thats sick I only had jazz jack rabbit 2 and i played it to death. Some of the best music ever! (guy who worked on Deus Ex and Unreal did the music).
I played a bit of them back in the day. I'd love to replay them someday.

Wait, we're talking about JJR music?
That is all.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was greatness. Brings me back.

Anyone else think this series is kind of comparable to Earthworm Jim? I'd say the style and aesthetics about it are definitely kind of similar, very unorthodox looks and design... can't think of very many other old platformers like these that had this kind of vibe. Boogerman and Lost Vikings can maybe count.

I've always felt the same way. I've actually made that comparison to someone before. Both series had 2 solid games, went 3D and tanked, and got a random portable game a few years later. These games remind me of Vectorman too.
