Which will make me puke more. I love how you have to get past several media/junk tabs on the new 360 dashboard to get to the "games" section.
at least the ps3 starts you out on the 'games' tab!

Oh yeah, I used to bash the PS3's dashboard but I prefer it now and like how it's never changed.

Just another unfortunate aspect of consoles becoming more like PCs. It was kind of nice back when consoles were just gaming machines. It was their only reason for existing. Now, they all have to be multi-media and multi-purpose like your average computer

The cross media bar of the PS3 is LEAGUES better than the Xbox 360 equivalent. It's easier to use, quick and classy. Nothing on there wastes your time. Microsoft on the other hand just keeps making things more and more tacky and inconvenient

Ps3 also has an option to auto-run discs when you put them in. I don't know if Xbox has that feature.

Most people wouldn't want to buy a new TV every 5 years or so. I can see the Smart TV taking over other aspects of media, but not gaming.

It's such a minor thing, but I also love that a little video usually plays when you go to select your game on the PS3. I haven't gotten the last 360 update, but they never had that and I doubt that's changed. Just another one of those little things that makes me appreciate the the PS3's cross media bar. You get this when looking at save files for some games on the PS3 too

I for one love watching Ancient Aliens on Youtube via my 360 or Netflix all from my console.

Sure I do want my systems to remain first and foremost gaming devices primarily, but they are just evolving now to be more PC like, hell, maybe the next gen will have more than just upgradable hard drives, why not graphics upgrades? Would make sense for M$ to do it anyways.

I used to be a huge PC gamer, but it is one hell of an expensive hobby, so I went back to console gaming. Why not let us do more with our machines as long as it doesn't take away from its main function? Expanding capabilities are a good thing.

I don't see the console going away anytime soon. We will still need some sort of device to play our games on. I reckon the next logical step would be HD capable VR headsets.

I was actually looking to buy one a few years back for my flight sims and FPS games, but damn I ain't paying $300 for standard definition headsets, They still need to mature a lot more.

Oh wait, Sony already made one and it does 720P, is OLED, and cost a cool $800. I know what I want! Screw a TV! This is what we have all dreamed about gaming on!

@AppleQueso, Yes the 360 plays the games immediately when you put in the disc.

I've heard that OnLive and Gaikai are going to come to Smart TVs soon. If so, this kind of renders the whole "constant upgrade" argument moot. Even if it doesn't, I more so predict that games will flock to set-top boxes like Google TV or even Apple TV. These devices are significantly cheaper than a new TV, console, or handheld, so even if local games do come to Set-Top Boxes, it won't be that expensive.

I don't think I'd want a VR headset for the same reason I prefer speakers to headphones.
