Oh yeah I remember hearing about that. I pray to the game gods that isn't true, I don't want EA to have a part in the Wii U's online structure. Fine for their own games, but everything through Origin? Nope.sevin0seven wrote:the only updates i've read so far about Wii U is that EA are allegedly in talks with Nintendo to supply Wii U's online services through Origin, their digital distribution platform. Plus an "anonymous" developer said that Wii U may be adjusted to operate with two touch screen pads instead of one. But take that as rumors until E3 comes this year.Pichu wrote:Not really. I'd wait until E3 when they'll hopefully show off some actual, full games and not just demoes. Plus we don't know much else like price point, 1 or 2 Utablet support, 3rd party support and the like. It clearly has potential, but for now we should just wait. The Nihilist wrote:With the Wii 2/Wii U coming out, is it worth pursuing the new system? Anyone heard anything good about it so far?

Re: How is the Wii doing?
Do you think the original Wii service will continue after Wii U launches? That's what a lot of gamers were bringing up in the early days of online downloads that were anti-digital.

I don't think that they would drop it immediately, but it's sure to happen as the wii dies away. If the WiiU is backwards compatible though, I hope the keep the game servers going though.

Re: How is the Wii doing?
Since the Wii U is suppose to be 100% compatible with the Wii, here's what I think: The Wii U might have a new online service, but everything that's available on the Wii Shop Channel will be brought over to the new Wii U service. So maybe the Wii online service will be shut down eventually, but we wont loose anything since it'll be on the Wii U.
I think game services will stay up for a long time. Maybe, for example, Mario Kart Wii's online service will be shut down when (assuming) a Wii U Mario Kart comes out. But a game like Goldeneye, for example, I can see staying up for a long time. Especially since people will be able to play it on the Wii U. Hell, here's hoping that the Wii U will have some sort of punk buster!

Re: How is the Wii doing?
I've really been enjoying my Wii a lot lately. Have logged in 70+ hours into Skyward Sword recently and just got Kirby's Return to Dreamland and played it with a bunch of my friends yesterday. The Wii and I have been having good times.
