What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
For $30 that's a steal, might have to pick it up, i remember paying $25 for each Volume of Cowboy Bebop on DVD back in 2005, now you can get the complete series for like $30-40 NEW in alot better packaging!
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Oh dear god. I did that for a lot of series. I'd save my money and wait for every volume. I'm so happy they're leaning more towards box sets now. That $20-25 per disk thing was getting expensiveHazerd wrote:... i remember paying $25 for each Volume of Cowboy Bebop on DVD back in 2005...

Yeah, I remember the ~$100 boxsets back in the early to mid 2000's for sure. Never got one myself but I think my friend got the Eva one back then which I think was like $120, lol.
@bruno: Wrapped up the Jagi part, haha. I guess I can see what you and others mean, one of my friends earlier was just saying "Oh man if you like Rei get ready for Toki and Raoh", nobody seems to mention Jagi. I thought the whole thing was a bit off myself, since it was either really brutal with the torture/violence stuff, or extremely goofy like there was some really cartoony/Disney like sound effects with some "silly" scenes that felt really tacky. The humor with Bat and Lin is fine to me, but it was kind of out of place here (like when Jagi was waving the gun around about to shoot himself, the sound effect was so cheesy).
Oh well, looks like Toki is next! And the Fang Clan stuff with Rei was greatness. Hope to see more of him and Mamiya later.
Loving how thick the black lines are in this series, reminds me a bit of 70's anime. The art is fantastic for sure.

Yep things are about to get good.
In addition to the animation, I always thought the voice acting was a big contributor to the unique vibe the series gives off. Haha speaking of the voice acting, did you know Kenshiro's VA looks like this?

Don't forget about Souther, that part is awesome too. Actually starts to get a bit fillerish between the Souther and Roah arcs (3rd arc ends with like 4 recap eps in a row or something) but not as much as it is in the beginning since the over-arching storyline is in motion and progressing.Oh man if you like Rei get ready for Toki and Raoh

Yep, he's my favorite (for Ryo Seaba via City Hunter), but damn he needs to brush his teeth.
Rei's VA has always been one of my favorites too. He voices the weirdest character ever in Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Souther sounds great too. I pay too much attention to VA's, I know he's played by the guy who did Rochina in Votoms, and has done some other minor villains/characters in some shounens, but I'm glad to finally get to something where it seems like he plays a major villain. Badass voice.

I recently watched a movie called Sword of the Stranger, which was awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes samurai movies. It was put out by Bandai and since they're dropping out of the market, it's not a good idea to wait long if you want the Blu-ray...
I've also been watching Petite Princess Yucie, which I got during Right Stuf's winter sale. I mostly got it because it's by Gainax ("inspired" by their Princess Maker games). Unfortunately, it's pretty much terrible. For some reason my brain still thinks that Gainax is an awesome company, but they've churned out a large amount of crap over the past decade... but then I think about how amazing their top-tier works have been and forgive them.

watching my first anime on BLUERAY
its called Rideback http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rideback
Still on the first disc, and I'm liking it.
I am also enjoying the opening and closing themes.
most of the time when I watch anime, I skip right to the story and gloss over the title sequence.
but the like both the opening and closing credits.
and when I'm done watching this, I've got other stuff on the waiting list.

I used to have Sword of the Stranger. It's a solid action film and not much else. Animated by Bones. Definitely worth a watch but maybe not worth a buy.Nemoide wrote:I recently watched a movie called Sword of the Stranger, which was awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes samurai movies. Just caught up with Last Exile -Fam. It's a surprisingly enjoyable adventure considering Gonzo does not tend to put out anything decent anymore

I finally got around to finishing Ano Hana (it's got a much longer title, but that's what the filename of the subs were). Man, it was a really good story that got me to really care about the characters. It's got the same kind of feelings as Angel Beats, only with MUCH less gunplay.

I love Angel Beats even though the story is ridiculous, haha. AnoHana I loved at first but quit watching after 7 episodes. The characters cry so much it's annoying.MrPopo wrote:I finally got around to finishing Ano Hana (it's got a much longer title, but that's what the filename of the subs were).
