Who loves the PC Engine and Turbo around here?

Just seeing how many other HuCard followers we have out there. Also curious about why you like this so underrated system. Speak up and give the skeptics an earful!

What do I like about the Turbo...
* HuCards (or TurboChips) are a really cool-looking format. Compact, futuristic and usually maintain nicer labels than games that use stickers.
* The games: Offbeat titles like "JJ & Jeff/Kato & Ken" make for an interesting experience and it's fun playing games that so many people have never heard of before.
* The games #2: Really polished titles like Soldier Blade, New Adventure Island, Bonk (any), the Ys series (on CD), etc. are great gems that flew completely under my radar (or over my budget) back in the day.

It's a unique system from a great era in video games. It's a 'must own' for any fan of the 8/16 bit generation. The software had such a different feel from what the other guys were doing at the time.

I like shmups and there are plenty of great and at least good ones on the systems.

I only have nine TG-16 games

They are hard to find outside of the internet.

But the ones that I do have are nice ones.

Blazing Lazers, Bonks Adventure, Dungeon Explorer, Fantasy Zone, Keith Courage, Legendary Axe, Ninja Spirit, and Pac-Land

I will find more, only a matter of time.

Wow, some great collections there.

Being a Turbo owner back in 1990, there's so much nostalgia that comes with the system.

The Turbo really seemed to blend the 8-bit and 16-bit generations together. You had some really simple, addictive games, as well as huge, amazing, complex quests. And the Turbo was so far ahead of it's time with the HuCard and CD-based media.

Another thing that gets me really into the collecting of the PC Engine and Turbo are the rare released items like the Special Version HuCards and the like.

All HE System hardware is designed so beautifully and timelessly.

I like shmups and there are plenty of great and at least good ones on the systems.

The number of interesting, unique shooters is pretty insane. However, one draw back to the PCE/Turbo library is that the shooters so far outweigh the other genres. Brawlers, shmups, platformers and RPGs definitely seem to take a back seat.

One great thing about the system is that there are some truly five-star games that any retrogamer should be embarrassed if they hadn't played them. Ys series, Ninja Spirit, Castlevania/Dracula X, Lords of Thunder, etc.

Anyway, for the record I must say that it's the sports titles that truly outweigh the other genres on the Turbo. There are 16 sports games compared to 14 shooters (or shmups).

Oops, right you are. I know very little of what the PCE side covers, so it could be even heavier on shooters. There are seriously way too many sports games on the Turbo though.
