XRGB Mini "Framemeister" review

Post by SGGG2 »

Fudoh's review is up! (cross-posted in Home Theatre)

http://retrogaming.hazard-city.de/

"Conclusion: Micomsoft has delivered! While still not perfect in every regard, the Framemeister is huge step forward in terms of usability and compatibility. Gone are the days when scanlines required a VGA connection, gone are the problems with dropouts, shakiness or special requirements for RGB cables. With the Framemeister you don't need an second video processor for optimal results. The XRGB-mini performs great right of the box. There are a few minor drawbacks (ridiculous 1200p modes, missing 50Hz support, ugly scanlines on 1080p output), but the positive aspects easily outweigh the few (fixable) quirks. All hail the new king "

Wow, thanks for sharing!
Does the guy who made this review know you can force several 480i only ps2 games into 480p with an elf called GSM on a ps2? That is offcourse much better than trying to improve a 480i signal. But, for the damn of it, not all games can be forced to 480p with GSM :(
CvS Chaos for the ps2 actually supports 480p while holding triangle and X while booting :!:
I should really get this new xrgb to get a better picture out of my 480i ps2 games. cool review. Very interested to know about the delay, which is very important to fast games and games that require precise timing.
Optimizing PS2 games 480p (progressive) and 240p gsm hdtv

$500? (>_<)

I'll probably buy this sometime next year. This Fudoh guy is like the man when it comes to this stuff, so if he says it's better than the XRGB3, it must be true.

He's aware. It's been discussed in the XRGB-3 thread over at shmups.

As for the delay; "I wrote about it in the review. I just wasn't sure how to interpretate the delay info on the status screen. Seems as the delay is between 1 and 9ms for all input and all output modes."

A frame is 16ms, so it's technically "lagless" :)

Nice review, I've been switching my equipment around a lot recently and been considering stuff in the XRGB line. Liking what I see so far.
