Port Over The Original!!!

Post by peace4myheart »

The Lunar series from Sega CD got ported to PS1 and some people think that the PS1 is much better. I wouldn't know b/c I don't own the Sega CD versions. That got me thinking. Are there any other ports that were improvement over the original???

How is HL2 better on consoles? There's mods, K/M controls, and the ability to fuck around with the game, like flying around, shooting that damn combine who tells you to pickup the can...

And Halo 1 and 2? And Crazy Taxi? And whatever that first one is? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trolling.

Well, he has a point with Halo 1 at least. There's a few mods (the metroid online one looks neat, haven't tried it yet though) and online multiplayer. Though Co-op is lost which was in my opinion the only place where the game really stood above the rest (at the time). I hear Crazy Taxi for PC lets you pick whatever music, though you can mod the DC version too... but I bet the K/M controls are shit.
I'd say he might just be mis-informed but... HL2 for the Xbox really was a lot worse in several areas compared to the PC version and I doubt the 360/PS3 versions are much better. I mean... <rage>HOW CAN IT EVEN COMPARE WITHOUT MODS?</rage>

I better not hear anyone say SOTN either. They enhanced it as much as they fumbled it on Saturn.

to say something about Lunar 1&2

Lunar 2 upgrade is merely a graphical overhaul. And really it's not even that much once you get into it. I'll say this, I played Lunar 1&2 as a kid on the SegaCD when they came out. When the remakes were released I played them again, and then followed up by playing the SCD versions again. Lunar 2 felt like the same exact game nearly. I mean yeah, there is big graphical differences, but in the same respect, it feels so similar that it doesn't really matter.

As for Lunar 1 on the other hand. It's almost a completely different game. The story is changed around a bit, the graphics are so much better it's amazing. And really, all in all, it's a ton better as Lunar Silver Star Story Complete.

OMG. did you actually try both versions? The only thing the PSX version was lacking was the extra level, items, and Maria. But it was superior in everyother way. The PSP isnt so bad either. I normal screen it. I really do miss the extra l and r buttons.

lso I still cant get online with SSSB. Seriously come to america and try to play here.

I like arcade ports that contain the original but also have new modes of play.

So, games like MERCS on the Genesis and Radiant Silvergun on the Saturn.
