Its not even debatable. Each is best within its context. I can reduce it like this: Saturn is my top 2d machine... DC is my top 3d machine. Saturn provides the most arcade accurate (besides Neo Geo of course) 2d fighters on what I feel to be the best 2d controller ever. DC is like a home Naomi. Both are my favorite systems ever!

DC is a more versatile and impressive machine, but I think I prefer the Saturn library (JP mostly).

I must be the only one who thinks the saturns crap then.

The dreamcast is not just a bit better, its like comparing a suspension bridge to a plank across a ditch! The dreamcast is something I can sit and play happily.

I had a PS1 when the saturn was actually still in the battle, I loved my PS1. No one had a saturn, those that did were just sour, they said arcade ports like daytona and sega rally. The ports were garbage comaped to the port of ridge racer.

The sega rally 2 port on the Dc was nothing short of amazing, that was an excellent port.

Also the stuff abotu the saturns 2d capabilities, might have the capabilities btu I have yet to see it do anythign with them.

i bought into the whole get a saturn for this that and the other, frankly its the first console I would sacrifice over my other ones.

Have you played many Japanese exclusives? if not, that could be part of your problem.
What types of games do you enjoy most?

I think I voted a while back, but I forgot never posted why....

I like the Saturn better. It has best 2d shmup library, lots of unique games, easy import compatability, best controler i've used(MK-II), it looks sleek and runs quiet. On the downside the games can be pretty expensive. It's also hard to program games for, which unfortunatly pushed alot of developers toward the "evil" grasp of Sony. mwahaha.

Obviously the DC is better technically, it came out several years later with updated hardware. But I dislike the DC controller, it puts my hand to sleep after 30 minutes of Bangai-O. And while the Dreamcast has some good US games, most of my favorites are imports and there is a severe lack of RPGs (even worse than the Saturn). It's ugly and loud. On the good side the emulation possibilities are great and the arcade ports are awesome. I just wish more import shmups saw a US release. Don't get me wrong, the DC is a great system, but overall, I just think the Saturn has more to offer for me.

The dreamcast still impresses me in terms of hardware/perpiperals. I still vote the VMU as the best peripheral ever.

Although I think I have fonder memories of the Saturn. "Long easy... WHOAH!" on sega rally still makes me laugh. Also the fact that most of my Saturn games were christmas or birthday presents meant that I played them to death, whereas most of my Dreamcast games were copies meant that I moved on to other games a lot quicker.

I'd call it a tie.
God damn I hate the internet.

I have to say i haven't played any Jap exclusives. But I don't buy something to play jap games if you get me, sue maybe 1 or 2 are worth getting but not enough to warranet any serious effort to learn japanease and give the peace sign in every photo I'm in.

The only jap game I can think of on the saturn I'd really want to play woudl be radiant silvergun.

Anyway I am mostly in racing games which the psx not only bettered the saturn with it absolutely gave it a doing it couldn't recover from.

The Dc has some ok racing games but the sony machines and the xbox are better for racing games. The DC has a really good library of quality games that I enjoy, the saturn so far has done nothing for me.
